After 4 days and constant complaints... had no water pressure, toilet did not work and place is dirty and dusty. Bathroom full of mold and mildew. Another guest told me he was intending staying a week, but checked out after 2 nights because he had no water and the lost his laundry. I was told over phone $10 a night, arrived to find it was $15 a night. Room cleaning consisted of making bed only (and had to ask repeatedly for that to be done), no clean sheets or towels, floor not swept. Watched other guests complain and check out early to go to another hotel. Breakfast is just a bread-roll, a banana and tea or coffee. Internet WiFi does not work and when staff are told this, they said ''yeah, other guests say that''. Desktop computers on site full of viruses and no anti-virus software. Feel free to use them if you want to send everyone in your address book harmful computer viruses. Young child of staff screams and cries in foyer frequently is unattended. Staff yelling at each other frequently and only two of them have good English. During breakfast, staff sit near you smoking heavily. They do hard sell the moment you voice an interest in their tour booking service. On last morning there, another guest was at desk complaining that he was due to fly out next day to Laos and that staff who were assisting him in visa service had still not received back the passport, promised to have been returned 2 days earlier. Staff made phone call to visa service and then said to guest...''maybe tomorrow or next day''. How anyone could give the place a positive review defies the imagination!
Dirty hotel with unhelpful staff. Only good thing about it is location. Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averagePhone: 84 49262563

Booked through hostelworld.com because it has the highest rating at 95%, I expected to find the place outstanding. While it is an ok place to stay, at 17USD for a double ensuite room, it is not outstanding nor good value, considering an equivalent double room can be had nearby for 5 to 10 USD less. Perhaps it's the free Internet, free pick up and breakfast included plus the commission that hostelworld take that bump up the price. I found out later that ,with bargaining, same rooms can be had for 13 USD. Having said all that, the rooms are spacious and clean with cable tv, mini bar, comfy beds and duvets. They do seem to be having a little bit of a damp problem creeping in though due to lack of ventilation and some rooms are musty. Also, the room I stayed in had an 'attacking toilet' that at sparodic intervals spat it's contents out. Just think about the consequences.....Noise can also be a problem if on first floor with the owner and family living/sleeping below. They get up at 6 to 7am and you will struggle not to yourself if above them. The staff seem attentive and friendly but they do become over bearing after a while asking where you are going and plans from Hanoi. Obviously, they want to sell their tours etc. The hotel tours and travel services are very good though and having gone to Halong Bay through them, I can heartily recommend it. The Internet on offer for free is 4 computers on a fast network and the complimentary breakfast is a baguette with bread and jam, coffee and tea.
