Worth the money!!

by TripAdvisor Member MelroseL

This hotel although it is small in size but for budget travelers like me it's well adequate. I booked this room through emails and all their all responses were received within a day. The hotel is located in a quiet street hence there were not much of noises in the morning. It is not far from Hoam Kien Lake. We were supposed to spend the 1st and the 3rd night in Hanoi and the 2nd night at Halong Bay. We booked a Connecting Room for the 2 nights. We checked in at about 10am and while they were preparing for our room they whisked us to the restaurant at 9th floor for some breakfast without any charges for the early check in & breakfast. On our first night, we were upgraded to Deluxe rooms. On the next day, after breakfast while we were getting ready our luggage to check out for Halong Bay we received a new from our cruise agent. Much to our disappointment, our plan to Halong has to be canceled due to the bad weather. The receptionist immediately helped us to get another room at their sister's hotel as Golden Sun 4 was fully booked for that night. In the meantime, they helped to arrange another trip to Perfume Pagoda as well as getting back to the refund from the cruise company on our behalf. They sent our luggage directly to Golden Sun 2. The room in Golden Sun 2 was not as nice as Golden Sun 4. But their services were as good as usual. On our last night in Hanoi, we were back at Golden Sun 4. The inconvenience part was mostly on the packed and unpacked of our stuffs but Golden Sun staffs always tried their very best to help out and to ensure that we enjoyed the most and worry free during our stay. We did not have to move our luggage from one hotel to another because all this was done by them without any charges. Overall, I enjoyed staying at Golden Sun 4 and I would recommend this hotel to travelers who are looking for a decent and budget place to stay with 5 star services.

Memorable Stay in Hanoi

by TripAdvisor Member Kallistah

My fiance and I stayed at the Golden Sun chain because of the great reviews on TripAdvisor. We chose to stay at the Golden Sun 4 because it is the newest in the Golden Sun chain of its location. It is located in a quiet alley way off a main street (which you'll appreciate when it comes time to sleep- no traffic or beeping hondas). It is within walking distance to Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter and it is very close to the Vietnam Airlines Minibus stop. We were very happy with our decision. The rooms were comfy, moderate size room, extremely clean with modern amenities like in-room computer with free internet, A/C, LCD TV, western bathroom, complimentary bottles of water and snacks and of course free breakfast. Breakfast is simple but good (choices include pho, omelette with baguette with fruit and yogurt, juice and coffee). The staff is warm and friendly and made us feel at home. They were not pushy when it came to selling tours. We booked our Halong bay trip with them (at a very good discount and even got a complimentary upgrade) and we booked our SaPa trip through another agent without any problems. During our travels away from the hotel we were able to keep our bags safely stored at the hotel. It was definitely one of the nicer hotels we stayed at while in Vietnam and for $30 a night, it was quite a bargain. We highly recommend the Golden Sun 4 and wanted to thank the staff there for making our trip to Hanoi a memorable one.

A Hidden Gem in a Great Location

by TripAdvisor Member KiwiPete1

This was our second trip to Vietnam to stay with Mrs Moon and her wonderful team at the Golden Sun Chain Hotels. Two years ago we stayed at Golden Sun 1 which is also excellent however this review is about the newly opened Golden Sun 4 at No 10 Chan Cam St, Hanoi.

Golden Sun 4 is in a great location down a quiet side street about a 200m walk from the beautiful St Joseph's Cathedral and all the great shops and cafe's surrounding the cathedral in Nha Tho St.

Golden Sun organized an airport transfer at $USD13 and even though we arrived at 1100 am we were invited to have a complimentary breakfast.

We travelled with our 14 year old daughter and had booked connecting rooms for the amazing price of $USD 65 (promotional price) for both rooms, breakfast included. When we arrived we were advised that we had been upgraded to two adjoining queen sized rooms at no additional charge. These rooms both overlooked Chan Cam St and it was wonderful to look out and see people going about their lives. The rooms were beautifully appointed....comfy beds, frig, safe, cable TV, aircon, table and 2 chairs, computer in the bedroom with high speed internet and a great bathroom all kept spotlessly clean by the hotel staff.

A highlight for us was the delightful staff who simply could not have been more welcoming or helpful. For example, our daughter was sick on one day and the staff made up a breakfast tray and brought it down to her room and also offered to get a doctor if necessary. A special thankyou to Quynh and Phuong for the ham and cheese omeletes and the honey pancakes served with a beautiful smile each morning at the breakfast room which is on the 8th floor and has views out over the French Quarter.

The hotel receptionist Hue is a fantastic ambassador for the Golden Sun 4, nothing was too much trouble. When asked where we could get a brass sign for our home in Melbourne she said she would be happy to organize it for us. After walking down the street with me to see what I wanted she made some calls and now I am the proud owner of a black and brass number on my house. Also, Yen was just lovely at reception. The young man who attends the door and was probably responsible for running our errands is just delightful.

Overall, this hotel is fantastic and represents great value for money.

Mrs Moon is always very helpful and obliging in responding to email booking enquiries.

I have no hesitation in recommending the Golden Sun 4 to prospective guests....you will not be disappointed.

If you are visiting Hanoi here are my top 12 suggestions;
1. Have a meal at KOTO in Van Mieu St
2. Visit Craft Link, a non profit shop also in Van Mieu St
3. Go to the Water Puppet Theatre
4. Get a blouse made at Kien Boutique at 1B To Tich St
5. Have a drink and people watch at The Little Hanoi, 23 Hang Gai St and also Cafe Le Malraux at 2 Hang Bong St
6. Don't miss pizza, salad and a glass of wine on thr balcony at Mediterraneo, 23 Nha Tho St7. Get your washed and blow dried at the hairdresser opposite Golden Sun 4 at 1B Chan Cam St for about $4
7. Visit the Bangkok Hilton otherwise known as Maison Centrale, the prison where John McCain and other U.S POW's were kept during the late 60's and early 70's.
8. Have high tea at the Sofitel Metropole
9. Get a 1 hour cyclo ride around the Hoan Kiem Lake and the French Quarter
10. Have an ice cream at Fanny Glace on the Hoan Kiem lakefront
11. Get a hand carved address stamp made at "The Real Stamp Shop" at 62 Hang Quat St
12. Finally, after a hard morning shopping, stop off at the tiny Gecko Bar and Restaurant for an icy cold beer and a club sandwich at 86 Hang Quat St

Lives up to expectations

I sit in my room in the Golden Sun 4 as I write - in-room computers being one of the perks of this place. I booked on the strength of TA reviews and have not been disappointed. Smooth pick up from the airport, sterling friendly service, good quiet location but still convenient to the hustle and bustle of the Old Quarter etc. I've booked a standard room which is spacious and clean and has good amenities as described by other reviewers. Definitely recommended.

The best hotel in Hanoi!

by TripAdvisor Member Craig-and-Diana

We have only good things to say about the Golden Sun! We are a family of 2 adults and three children aged 9, 5 and 21 months. We stayed at the Golden Sun 4 in Chan Cam Street, Hoan Kiem district, for a total of eight nights during our three weeks in Vietnam. It's in a great location, close to the lake and with the gorgeous restaurant, La, around the corner. The staff are all so incredibly warm and sincere, so helpful and professional, we were a bit sad to leave! Our adjoining rooms were super comfortable (with TV and internet available in both, which thrilled the kids!), and each time we returned to Hanoi (from Sapa, Halong Bay and HoiAn) it was really like coming home. We would highly recommend the Golden Sun as a wonderful base from which to explore Hanoi and the north of Vietnam. We'll definitely be back!

Great hotel in a great location

by TripAdvisor Member MikatMiami

We loved the Golden Sun 4 - it was extremely comfortable and quiet, well located on a side street in a great area of town, with tons of shopping, restaurants and street life. The staff, Mr. Dung, Hue and Hung, were all very nice and helpful. It is an excellent value with nice perks like the computer and internet in the room and everything was brand new. We would definitely return!

Golden Sun 4 - central Hanoi

by TripAdvisor Member 2_Vietnam

We arranged a transfer to the hotel for $15 which was a good move, as the airport in Hanoi is quite a way from the city. We arrived at 9am, and were offered breakfast which was great - fantastic Pho!

The rooms were very generous in size with a large bathroom. The staff were very helpful with our bags and what to see in Hanoi.

We had arranged a trip out to Halong Bay through the hotel, that we were charging back to the room. They were happy to leave our bags at the hotel while we were on the cruise. Unfortunately there was a typhoon headed for Hanoi so the trip was cancelled - but we didn't incur any fees.

What a great hotel !!!

SIMPLY THE BEST !!!

Sorry for the delay in posting our reviews for Golden Sun 4, a super hotel
near the Cathederal.
A lovely hotel with great staff and the rooms were spotless, with beautiful bedding and fluffy white towels
with the modern well designed bathrooms.
the rooms are light and airy.with a computer and flat screen tv in them.
The staff will help in anyway they can to make your stay a memorable event,
the breakfast room on the top floor has panoramic views of the city, a fair selection of breakfast is available, freshly cooked while you wait.
Mrs Moon and her staff go out of their way to try and accomadate any requests you have, I cannot praise them enough.
My review is an honest description of the Hotels and Staff, that we encountered,
they should have
a 5 star rating for customer service !!!!
will post a few photos as well,
our love and best wishes to all Golden Sun staff and Thank you
for making our holiday so good.
