Think again
We spent five days at the Hanoi Capital Hotel. We found the hotel cheap, the rooms clean and well serviced.
However, Hang But is NOT a quiet street even though it it not a through street. It is clogged with motorbikes through which you pick your way to the hotel entrance. The roar of the traffic, with almost compulsory horn honking, was a major annoyance well into the late evening. Then, when that had subsided, the locals took back their street for shuttlecock or parties, while the din from the adjoining through streets served as constant background noise. If you are used to noise, and I mean noise, then consider this hotel. (Unless they have soundproofing, perhaps every hotel in the old quarter has a noise problem.)
The hotel looks quiet central on the map. What makes getting to the market, Hang Bac (silver), or the lake, is that the footpaths are NOT for pedestrians - they are for motorbike parking or cooking. Therefore, what looks like a reasonably short walk becomes a marathon run IN THE TRAFFIC which, by the way, is not governed by any sort of rules! When gridlock hits - mainly at intersections - in peak times, there is no way out for pedestrians. They are gridlocked, too, as there is no escape to the "footpaths". Crossing the street is an act of faith that motorbikers will judge your speed and direction and miss you!
Do NOT change money at this hotel. Use the bank a few blocks away in Hang Bo. Book your own taxi from and back to the airport.
See the Temple of Literature and visit Craft Link opposite before you buy in Hanoi.
There is a French bakery nearby, a laundry in the next street and a handimart in Hang Bong. Take your own dishes if you want takeaway from the many corner cookeries. We found the seats too small and too low.

Unique Quality: Le meilleur hôtel d'Hanoi.

thank you jenny and all of you in your hotel
I am a teacher, and this is the first time I come to VietNam on my holiday so for me everything is strange, Do you know why? Because I dont know about this people and country. but it is really happy to me. I have 2 weeks in Vietnam and 10 days in Hanoi Capital Hotel. This is 3 stars standas hotel in Hang but street. The fist I am very suprise about the way to pich up me from Noibai airport, the driver is kind hearted and attenttion to me. I want to say thank you very much to him. The second suprise is the way to welcome me to their hotel, there are more diffirent than other hotel where I visited. I want to say it is wonderful service, I see Jenny who help me everything, she is a manager, receptioness and selling tours person. I have a tour to Halongbay, andHoian, everything is wonderful orgaization. The location of the hotel was really good - close enough to the lake and the old quarter that you feel comfortable walking there at any time of day or night, but far enough out of the 'backpacker' area that its quiet and you can get a good night's sleep. Finally, I feel that the other staffs in this hotel is friendly, honestly and warmtly and everything is perfect to me.
Inconclution, I want to share and sugest with every people If you need the place to staying. this place is the best choice and consistenation value of money.

My best time in Hanoi
With me, the overall cleanliness of Hanoi Capital Hotel in Hanoi was satisfactory. This hotel offered good leisure activities. Transportation to and from the hotel was pretty good. The check-in process was a pleasure. The staff was very competent and had a great ability to communicate in foreign languages. The cleanliness of the restaurant for buffet breakfast was found to be good. The hotel appeared to have given considerable thought to diversifying its food and beverage offerings. I'd like to recommend to my friends and all of whom want to spend their holiday in Hanoi. Recommend!!!
Unique Quality: Hanoi Capital Hotel is located in a Quater, near shopping street and near the lake. You can do every thing you want.

Accomodation in Hanoi - Hanoi Capital Hotel??
Planning to visit Hanoi soon, and will need some advice on accomodation in Hanoi. Anyone out there stayed in Hanoi Capital Hotel? What is the hotel like and how is the location. Is it near to the lake? If not what is the best hotel for a lake view or which part of Hanoi is the best place to stay?
Re: Accomodation in Hanoi - Hanoi Capital Hotel??
Hi,
We stayed (2006)at the Golden Sun Hotel in Hang Hanh st. This is just around the corner from the lake and in a great area for shops, cafes etc. Very close to the French quarter. Not luxurious but very clean, comfortable and with cable TV and free internet access! Our room even had a bath! Very inexpensive. Simple breakfast included. The hotel is one of those very skinny vertical buildings that are so ubiquitous in Hanoi. The owner ( a formidable business woman) is quite a character! Old Hanoi is quite small so everything is walking distance.
Good luck
Re: Accomodation in Hanoi - Hanoi Capital Hotel??
We stayed at the Elegance Hotel #2 in Ma May street which was close to the lake, nice street, very friendly staff and would stay there again. We also stayed one night at the Zephyr Hotel which is on the edge of the old quarter on one corner of the lake which had view of the lake. This was more modern than the elegance but we preferred the Elegance more.

Re: Accomodation in Hanoi - Hanoi Capital Hotel??
Hi,
I and my friends stayed at hanoicapital hotel on March. why don't you want to book that hotel? i think that hotel is very good. all staff of that hotel are very enthusiastic. They are pretty, sweet girl.
Their rooms are ok, have TV, private toilet with hot shower. My room has computer with internet access for free. They cleaned my room every day.
Reception department opened the door for me when I wanted to go outside. They called a taxi for me and go outside with me, then open the door of car for me and said: "have a nice day".
We had happy time at Hanoicapital Hotel. They are very good. I hope you will book it.
Good luck!!! :)
