Spectacular hotel very close to everything!

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)

NOTE: I think this hotel is now called "Hanoi Elegance Sapphire"

The staff here is outstanding! We were checked in by a guy who told us he was a trainee. His english was perfect and he was easy to understand. Had he not told us he was a trainee, we'd have never known. The location is very near all the cool stuff you probably want to do if you're a tourist. Walk a few minutes in one direction and you get to the war museam (which I recommend), walk another directions for a few minutes and you get to the lake where the temples are, etc. Almost everything is walking distance. They were also very helpful with giving us directions to places and suggestions of places to see, eat, etc. The room was very clean and looked as though it had been remodeled rectntly. ALSO -- They have a computer terminal in every room which is FREE! How awesome is that -- especially for people like us who decided to leave our laptops behind. Oh, and they also helped us out with things like "how much is reasonable to pay for a taxi or cyclo and how much is too much?" This came in very handy since those guys often start out WAYYY too high and we knew how low we should be able to bring the price down. Thanks for a great experience in Hanoi, Hanoi Elegance 3 Hotel. Cons - The building is very long and narrow. This means that only some of the rooms have exterior-facing walls and thus, no windows. There is a window that faces the hallway to make things feel a bit less clostrophobic. This wasn't really a big deal for us since we only slept and showered in there.

Unique Quality: There is a street food place on the corner about 100 yards (meters) from this place -- it's awesome! If you walk out the door of the hotel, turn left and walk down the street until you reach the corner. It's right there, on the corner closest to the hotel. I think they might only be there starting in the evening.

Directions: Old Quarter

Best Hotel EVER!

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)

Hanoi was the first stop of our month-long journey through Vietnam and I am SO glad that we chose to stay at the' Elegance'. It was the perfect introduction to a country that might otherwise have been quite overwhelming. The staff at the Elegance helped us to 'ease into it' so smoothly that from the very first day we felt totally at home, and culture shock...even for our little one, was hardly an issue. The staff here are priceless! They are the most genuinely helpful, thoughtful and kind people I have ever come across, from house-keeping to management and everyone in between. Nothing was too much trouble. All of our internal flights were arranged through their tour desk before we left Australia. Airport pick-up and drop off was punctual and the drivers used for the pick ups and our tour to Halong Bay (also booked through the tour desk) were helpful, cheerful and chatty...a perfect combination! Onward bookings were confirmed for us. After our visit to Sapa we were picked up at the station (at 5am) and brought back to the hotel (our 6 night stay was split) where we were given much needed coffee and looked after until an early check in was available. Restaurant bookings were organised for us. Water puppet tickets bought for us. Taxi's were hailed and given directions. Honestly...we were so coddled that I'm surprised I ever left! How this hotel only gives itself a 3 star rating I will never know...the service and atmosphere beats any 5 star I ever stayed at! The rooms were absolutely immaculate...breakfast served in the dining room was delicious and always presented with a smile and a chat. I could go on and on...but you get the drift.

When we were leaving the hotel the manager himself came and asked us how our stay was and if there was anything that we thought could be done to improve on the service. We could think of absolutely nothing. It was perfect!!!
