by cat_cameron about Light Star Hotel, Hanoi

This was actually the first hotel I stayed in Vietnam and Iw as taken there by a cab driver from the airport so it was really his choice (he would have been getting some kind of commision). I actually expected it to be over priced and not so good but for 40$ I got a double room on the top floor (with the best view compared to other rooms). Located just outside of the Old Quarter It seemed less touristy than other places and the staff here tried their very best to make sure I was always happy. No food or Internet available in the hotel but luckily all that was available on the same road.
If you stay here the view from the top room maybe nice but walking up all the stairs (no lift) just isnt worth it. I would happily stay here again.

Saved my day: Hanoi Silver Hotel

by stardeenaw about Hotel

Silver Hotel saved my day! I stayed here after changing hotel twice (the first one was run down, the bed of the second one gave me shoulder ache). Totally no complaints for this place. It is recently refurbished, the furnitures are new and modern looking. The staff in the morning shift, Micheal spoke good English and was helpful.

It is the only hotel in old quarter which has a lift (elevator), gave my legs a break after the whole "stairs thing" in other hotels.

Rates are 18USD for a non window room (twin or double) and 25 USD for a window room. I took the latter. Rates include breakfast, set menu style, it is decent compared to the buffet style in my second hotel with pathetic spread of food.

Hotel arranged for my airport transfer which was 15USD (one way). There is a lift (a rare facility in Hanoi), hotel staff Micheal spoke good English and served visitors well, room is modern too. A lot of hotel beds in Hanoi are very hard, the bed in this hotel was just nice for me.

Located near the Temple of Literature or Van Mieu, this hotel is a nice place to stay at budget prices. The rooms are comfortable and clean.

Hanoi Hotel- Hanoi Daewoo Hotel

by davekho

"Hanoi Daewoo Hotel: Don't ever stay there!!"

This is the actual complain letter i wrote to their mgmt:-

It was to my great dismay to have stayed Hanoi Daewoo Hotel! I And knowing a lot of VVIPs such as Bill Clinton etc have stayed have just made me even further despair. Who cares who’ve stayed here if average guests like me feels ***ed staying here. I totally can’t understand how it got its ISO and WORLD HOTELS accreditation!

Below is a point form of my problems encountered at Hanoi Daewoo Hotel:-

Day 1 (10 Feb 2008)
1. 2 Rooms key system fail, door can’t open; have 2 change rooms
2. Internet couldn’t connect after payment; can only be resolve after 40mins

Day 2 (11 Feb 2008)
1. Same internet problem again (see above)
2. 1 of my guest’s room changed due to internet problem

Day 3 (12 Feb 2008)
1. Cannot even enter payment website for internet access
2. Hearing distortion in telephone system to Front desk (Hissing sounds); think phone system also gone.
3. Call front desk and staff sounds also sick of problem, believe internet problem happens often.

How can Hanoi Daewoo Hotel be even considered 5-stars or recommended by WORLD HOTELS or even ISO accredited or listed 5-stars by tour guides like Vietnam Pathfinder???

However I must comment on the good service quality of the staff here and especially Hiroko Seki, Guest Service Manager (Duty Manager) who has constantly attended to our problems? I sincerely hope the owners of the hotel would address these problems seriously.

hanoi hotel

by anagha5

has anyone stayed at a hotel called 'Zephyr' in Hanoi? Read a couple of good reviews, but wanted to make sure.

Also me and my husband are in hanoi for 3 nights, last week of Sept. Is it worth taking the 2d/1n cruise to halong bay, or just a day trip to halong Bay is enough? Also, do i need to book it in advance, or could i just book locally once in hanoi

Many Thanks

Stayed at the Zephyr and can definately reccomend, location alone is worth it, but also great rooms and service. Make sure you pop round the corner to Bobby Chins if you are in the mood for something a bit special.
If your only in Hanoi for 3 nights then your going to be rushed doing two days in Ha Long, but it is worth it to stay overnight on the boat

Fellow travellers!
Greetings from Luxembourg!
After a business trip to Nanning in China I am planning to be in Hanoi for a
short visit at the end of April. I wonder if you can assist me and suggest a
good Hotel with character and charme in the city centre.
Thanks a lot for all your assistance!

Hi Joao,

I stayed in Hanoi Elegance 2 hotel last month as everyone seemed to be talking about it.
I have just booked it easily over the net , answered me quickly , & i can pay when i get there! It was a really really good hotel, fresh fruit, free internet with a computer in room etc.
there halong bay , lagoon junk with kayaking , transport and meals is only US$120pp too !
airport pick up US$10 ... no taxi worries taking you to the wrong place that way.

Hope this helps

Hanoi Hotel Suggestions?

by bpwarne

We are staying at the Camellia Hotel 4 aka Phan Thai Hotel. We are paying $25/night for a "superior room. The place is relly ragged and worn looking and the neighborhood is very noisy. Any suggestions for a quieter place, not neccessarily in the old quarter?

Re: Hanoi Hotel Suggestions?

by VIETNAMHiddenCharm

ok! you can stay in Bluesky hotel on Hang Bong street. The cost in here is cheaper than in your place. only 15$ per room. It'so so quiet and comportable. Please contact me if you want to.
Now, I'm staying in Hanoi like you.!
Have a fun time.

Most of the hotels in Hanoi are around $15 a night. If you want to chance it, you can just get dropped outside one of the above and ask around in the same street. You can check out the rooms before you agree to take it.
