great hotel
We stayed at the Hanoi Royal View Hotel our first night in Vietnam. Their staff was incredibly helpful and went above-and-beyond to make us feel welcome. We only stayed one night because we were off to Sapa the next day, but they treated us like VIPs. They even helped us cross the street (a necessary lesson in old Hanoi!), and gave detailed directions to the ATM and a nearby Pho restaurant.
The room was basic and nice. We received a small fruit plate upon arrival, and our room had TV. The hotel is a less than 02 minutes walk to the lake.
Fantastic staff, good value, breakfast is included - we would stay here again.

Hanoi Royal View Hotel
Friendliest Hotel in Hanoi
After reading good comment about this hotel I decided to book for our family of 5. We were not disappointed. The Hanoi Royal View Hotel is in the middle of the old quarter and walking distance to all the major attractions. Just only 2 minutes walking to the famous Hoan Kiem Lake, The lobby of the hotel belies it's crisp, clean rooms decorated in oriental style. Efficient air con, complimentary tea, coffee and fruit, room safe, toiletries, firm and comfortable beds and the convenience of FREE in room computer and Internet all add to the charms of this boutique hotel. But above all else the staff are what makes the Hanoi Royal View special. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and they were great with the kids, too (aged 7, 15 and 18). Complimentary breakfast was simple and delicious and better than the expensive one we had at a cafe on the shores of of Hoan Kiem Lake. Balcony rooms can be noisy - go for interior rooms.
