Hanoi (Apr 19 to 23) - Looking for Budget Traveler Buddies
Hi,
The two of us will be arriving in Hanoi on Sunday, 19th April.
We are flexible with our travel plans and have been contacting Hanoi Kids for some ideas on the surroundings in the Old Quarter. They have been helpful so far.
Accommodation wise, we are considering the Hanoi Venus Hotel http://www.hanoivenushotel.com, for USD 10 per night with ensuite bathroom, it is a good deal for budget travelers like us (at our opinion) and Hanoi Kids confirmed that the location is easily accessible in the Old Quarter area. We also don't see any better point to stay in a luxury place when you will be out of the room most of the day. Anyone that have any feedback on this hotel, please let me know in return.
We also plan to visit Halong Bay and the cost is too expensive if we just doing it for the 2 of us. If anyone happened to be in Hanoi between the period of April 19 to 23, and would like to be our travel buddies, please feel free to contact me. We are coming from Kuala Lumpur, a couple in their 30s.
The main travel plan is to visit the Hanoi city and Halong Bay at a minimal cost possible. Please take note that we don't fancy luxury and if you are the sort that likes to dine in fancy restaurants and cruising in a luxury boats, then we certainly not be able to hop in with you.

I really think you're asking for trouble with a $10. room in Hanoi - most expensive VN city! At that low price chances are very good that the room will not have a window! Remember also that many places will not honor your reservation - be sure to reconfirm at least twice B4 the trip. I liked the Kangaroo Hotel for $16. last year - my opinion about as low as you should go, or go with a hostel bed.
