Dirty room
We arrived in Hanoi on march 07, jut took taxi to the hotel in Luong ngos Quyen street, checked in as my internet reservation done before. Once stepped into the room, bad smell from maybe wardrobe or toilet, oh terrible for us after 10hours without relax. My honey got shock and found much different to the online picture. We moved to other one, better but other worse thing comes again.
We booked Halong Bay, ok and very quick paid but our private tours to Hue -Saigon would make them unhappy when I compared better itinerary and cheaper cost from other travel agent they did not help us to sort out good one and just push us to book them...
at evening, we had dinner at a nice club, talked to a man from Australia, Jim, he suggested a Vietnam Travel guide website, absolutely the crucial information for travelers: www.howtotravelvietnam.net, still updating information but very useful advice and good rate fairly, they are really a tour operator and gained years of travel experience...
The second night after halong Bay, we move to other hotel, Nam Hai hotel, very good, very useful and make us happy but the same price according to suggestion from howtotravelvietnam.net
So the online images are much different to real condition at hotel!

Anh Dao Hotel
Great room for people on a budget!! I paid 17 bucks a night for a wonderful room. Good staff, free laundry service. Cannot say enough about this place. Free internet.... backpacker special....do not take the first room they show you, go up a level or two.
Unique Quality: Down the street is BAR 69 - check it out as well

Anh Dao Hotel
Anh Dao Hotel is managed by Camellia Hotels group. It is located at Ma May St where you can find a few good restaurnat and travel agencies for Halong Bay or Sapa trip.
My friend had a pleasant stay here. The reception staff are kind and polite.
You could get $12 for a single standard room which comes with buffet breakfast and free internet access.
