Rising Dragon Hotel - 5 stars without question!!!

The Rising Dragon Hotel - in the old quarter is a gem of Hanoi! In addition to perfectly kept rooms, computers and wireless throughout, tour advice and help, a restaurant that makes some of the best stir-fry i have had in country, and full amenities - the staff is really what makes this a must-stay! I have never been taken care of so thoughtfully and with more consideration - quite possibly anywhere in the world! They are sources on everything you might need to know in the city and around the country but more impressive is their willingness to go above and far beyond to make the stay comfortable. Whether it is walking you around the corner to recommend street food and restaurants, giving tips on how to bargain, or arrange accomodations and travel once you leave Hanoi - they are without fail accessible and ready.
This is not to mention that the location cannot be beat. Within a very short walking distance of Hoan Kien Lake (I ran around it regularly in the mornings) and ideally situated in the old quarter around great shopping, food and culture - it is almost a steal for the price!
I cannot recommend Rising Dragon enough - truly one of the highlights of my travel and without question - I will be back!

We are travelling around Vietnam and we have been taken back by the level of customer service and the genuine desirte to want to help by all the staff. The Manager (Toan), and all his staff are incredibly professional, helpful, very sincere always willing to help organise anything you need during your stay. We did several trip organised through the hotel, One to Ha Long Bay and one to Sa Pa and we were not disappointed. I wish all hotels we stayed at at this level of service - The large hotel groups we have often stayed at can learn a few things from Toan and his team. For Hanoi, I think this is a rgeat little hotel compared to the places I know friends have stayed at - highly recommend it.
5 star performance, 3 star price

The old quarter of Hanoi is the busy end of town and with it comes the chaos of a major city in a fast developing country. But step off Hang Ga Street through the gleaming clean glass doors of the Rising Dragon II Hotel and you are greeted with the smiling faces of the reception team at this very recently renovated Hotel. The team is led by manager Mr Tony and his passion for the hotel and people is exemplified by the way he and his staff treat their guests. Like other people have stated, they treat guests like family. They offer advice on where to savour local cuisine and shopping and even their advice on tours is objective and helpful.
The restaurant is quite cute and the food is good and reasonably priced. The breakfast provided was excellent for the tariff paid.
The double room that we stayed in was of reasonable size, modestly and tastefully decorated, clean with a single king size bed (not two singles joined together), the best pillows we have ever laid our heads on, quiet air conditioner, wardrobe, fridge, safe, window, widescreen TV with cable TV and a desk with a computer and broadband. Yes, even 5 star hotels in Australia don’t always fit this much in their rooms.
One other bonus is that the hotel provides a spare room for guests to use after they have checked out but await transit. Thus you can go out all day, come back and have a shower (towel provided), use the internet or just have a lie down. Nice touch.
The Rising Dragon 2 Hotel is not a glamorous 5 star hotel and that is probably one of it’s main attributes. It is a 3 star hotel that exceeds expectations.
Highly recommended and we would stay there again when we are in Hanoi.
fantastic hotel, great value

When we arrived at Hanoi airport we went to the desk and they recommended this hotel. We thought AUD$40. was a bit pricey considering it was Asia....... This place was great! The staff were very helpful and made us feel really welcome. We eventually used it as our base and each time we came back they welcomed us home like old friends. We were upgraded in our room but the price stayed the same. The place is only 2 months old!. They organised tours for us, minded our bags, called us cabs. Breakfast (included) was very good with enough variation to keep us interested. When it was too hot we stayed indoors and watched cable TV and sat in the bath. We had a PC with internet in our room, big fat pillows, mini bar. When we left just about the entire staff came out to say goodbye! Great stay!!!

We had 5 nights at Rising Dragon 11 and another night on Halong Bay all organised online through Tony before we arrived . It was a great introduction to Vietnam to have such good service, fast PC in your room and a comfortable hotel. The cruise organised was really good and as we had to renegotiate the package because of one less day for cruise (because of Typhoon ) it was all easily done with no problems.
The Best Find in South East Asia!

After nearly five weeks travelling around southeast asia, we decided to spend our last few days relaxing in Hanoi. After some hard travelling, we got off the plane and asked the information desk to recommend hotels. The first (and only) one they showed us was this one....and are so glad they did. located centrally in the Old Quarter, this is a lovely hotel. The rooms are an excellent size, the amenities are spot on and best of all, the showers are the best we have had on our trip. With a good size TV (with all channels available) and free internet available, we couldn't have asked for a better hotel. The best thing about Rising Dragon II are the staff. They are all very professional, friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. On our last day we got the hotel to arrange for drivers to take us by bike around the city. The drivers they got for us didnt speak any english and of course we knew very very limited vietnamese, and spending the best part of half a day with them, wouldnt be too much fun. After explaining our concerns, at very short notice, they managed to get english speaking drivers, one of whom was a fellow staff member who had just finished doing his night shift at the hotel, and who kindly agreed to fill in! We will never forget the hospitality of the hotel staff and we cannot wait to return.

We arrived into Hanoi early, as our resort in Hoi An had been flooded by Typhoon Ketsana. We had originally booked a room at the Rising Dragon Hotel I. However, when we inspected the room, we found it to be too small and the climb up six flights of stairs did not suit my mother and father. Instead, we went across to the Rising Dragon Hotel II (the hotel paid for our taxi fare across).
Rising Dragon Hotel II is further out from the town centre, but still in the Old Quarter. The hotel has only been opened for two months and its design and decor is fresh and modern and lacks the 'tackiness' that abounds Vietnamese accommodation. The rooms are fantastic and very clean and include a great buffet breakfast. We stayed in a roomy deluxe room at the end of the corridor which had a workable desk with your own internet (however internet is in each room, regardless of the type). The beds were large and the pillows were a standout. There was also a separate bath and shower. While the rooms are a little more pricey than some alternatives, I think you get more bang for your buck with this hotel.
However, the major drawcard of this hotel clearly lies with its day manager, Tony. Tony is incredibly helpful, patient and genuinely caring. He assisted us greatly during our 7 night stay (we used Hanoi as a base for many day trips etc); and after the stresses of Typhoon Ketsana, was instrumental in turning our trip around.
While the hotel is experiencing some teething problems (e.g. issues with internet connections), these are being sorted out, and were dealt with in a prompt manner by Tony and his staff.
The hotel did not push any day trips onto us at all. However, when we inquired, Tony was more than helpful and provided us with some great options.
All in all, the hotel and its staff provided a quiet, clean and safe home away from home in a great location within the Old Quarter. Thank you Tony and staff for a great stay!

Honestly the hotel was normal in respects to the building and facilities. What you would expect in a very clean, serviced and well kept Hotel in a Western Country. But the staff were were better than good they were exceptional. Nothing was a problem when you required assistance with anything. They went out of there way to make you feel comfortable and looked after. I could stay in a 5 star hotel but they are what I have experienced in my travels just a facade with no character. This hotel felt like a home away from home and a safe one too in the center of a foreign city. It had everything you needed from clean rooms, comfortable bed, tv with all working channels, wifi, in room computer, hot flowing shower and a great manager who's name is Toan who will make your holiday in Hanoi and surrounding areas a great experience.

Rising Dragon Hotel II is located in the Old Quarter. It's a new hotel, clean and pleasant. The rooms are big , modern, clean ,with all the facilities you need and the buffet breakfast is fresh and tasty.
The day manager, Tony is professional ,helpful, patient and caring. He assisted us a lot during our stay without pushing anything and provided us with very good advices and options.
We felt at hoom and our stay there was wonderful.
