did anyone use vega cruises before? as i'm a single traveler, the single supplement of other companies are quite high. vega is the only company which quoted a decent price. anyone with hands on experience with this cruise. my major concern is hygiene. heard some cruises are loaded with roaches and rats...
I'm not sure what kind of cruises you need. It seems not difficult to get a decent price. I have booked the one day halong bay cruise with a reasonable price in SinCafee. The boat is clean and the lunch is nice, too.
There are two and three days cruise for choice if your time is ample. But the scenery in halong bay are similar. One day trip is enough.
There are hundreds of other junk boats that cruise the bay daily, just shop around and you'll get what you're looking for I'm pretty sure. If you're there in summer, single supplements are usually waived, so you'll get a room to yourself.
Hope this helps
I was offered usd90 for single deluxe room for a 2 day 1 night tour. saw one post on another forum saying vega cruise is elegant and food is awesome. but don't know if it's posted by real travelers as many vietnam travel agents seem to be pretty active in the forums... do you think i could get anything decent with this price? but even when i get to hanoi, i wouldn't be able to tell if the cruise is good or not at the travel agent... please help. anyone who had experience with this cruise or any other cruise which is clean (without any rats or roaches etc) and at this price range.
thanks a lot for helping.

This is my booklet with my drawings to communicate with them Vietnamese. On this page I drew two flags, one is China the other is Vietnam, then I have another arrow pointing from Vietnam flag to China flag to tell them I want to get a bus to China.
The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology has an excellent outdoor section where ethnic tribal houses can be seen and explored. Take note of some kooky details if you're there.

Arund the hoan Kiem Lake you can find many quiet terraces in which to seat and relax in the lazy evenings.
From these you can see the calm waters and the endless activity of the people walking by the shores, exercising, sitting on the benches...
If you're not already in Vietnam, by air is the best bet.
I like cyclos, and they are environmentally friendly, but motorbike taxis will get you there quickly, and the drivers are surprisingly honest on prices.
