US Embassy villa (formerly): luxury?

Our tour company got this place for us. Big and spacious, but nothing had been done to it for 20 years so it felt a bit neglected to say the least!

Balcony!

The Giang Hotel: Excellent mini-hotel with very low prices

The Giang is very near Back Beach in Vung Tau. Unlike at most of the mini hotels I visited in Vung Tau, the proprietess at The Giang speaks decent English. She and her family are very friendly. The rooms are modern and very comfortable with fridge, cable TV and very good water pressure (another rarity in Vung Tau mini-hotels.) Best of all, The Giang offers terrific discounts Sunday night through Friday night, when you can get a single room with fan for as little as 100,000 VND and a double with A/C for 150,000 to 200,000. (rates are about triple those on Saturday night, when the Saigon hordes descend upon Vung Tau) But these are great off-peak rates.

Vung Tau P & T Hotel: Reasonable Price At P&T Hotel

This is a 3 star hotel. (Don't know how they rate)
But the staff is very friendly.
The cost for us was $40usd per night.
It came with an oriental style continental breakfast which included, bread, butter, jam, a dozen Vietnamese pastry dishes, porridge, chow mein, seafood noodle soup, variety of fresh local fruits, juices, and of course, coffee. (All you can eat).
The front desk people spoke limited English.
Only the hotel manager can speak in broken sentences.
You can forget about talking to the room service people, unless you spoke Vietnamese.
They just smiled a lot.

The rooms are immaculate. Always cleanned by the time you return from your morning jaunts.
