Travel Tips for Phan Thiet

Snake Wine

by easterntrekker

While browsing in one of the local shops one evening I came upon a whole section of Snake Wine. The larger the bottle the bigger the snake. Snake wine consists of rice wine mixed with ,what at least looked like a Cobra. The snake is coiled up inside . Reportedly, the more venomous the snake, the better the wine. There were also bottles with scorpians in them .

Dune sliding

by jolou

These kids will collar you as soon as you arrive at the dunes and are very difficult to shake off! For a fee they will lend you their plastic sheet, position you on it will a load of sand behind you (that gets everywhere!) and shove you down a sand dune. Very good sales tactics that by the time you've trekked up the dunes, you will probably be too hot and exhausted to refuse their persistence!

Fairy Stream

by easterntrekker

We didn't know what to expect here as our driver spoke no Engish .So we followed his hand signalat took a little path that led to a shallow stream. Along the way we passed some ramshackle houses and a fish sauce factory.
We realized the idea was to walk up the stream "barefoot' untilwe came to a small waterfall. We decided to forgo the experience as we were a little leary about what we might step on in the water.
I heard later the view of the Red Cliffs was nice but the Waterfall was no big deal.

Phan Thiet / Mui Ne

"A beach close to Saigon"

If you're not too lazy to travel about four hours to get to a nice beach than this is a place to go. Even is not as fine beach as Boracay or some other tropical beaches it is still a good get away from Saigon.
