Life On The Mekong - Mekong Delta
by sunnywong
Life On The Mekong - Mekong Delta The Mekong Delta was an ancient Khmer territory. The area was mostly marshland and forest. When the Nguyen Lords took control of this region, a series of canals were built and a system of transportation was implemented in the maze of water ways in the area.
The Mekong Delta is divided into 9 provinces: Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap, An Giang, Cuu Long, Kien Giang, Hau Giang and Minh Hai. The people in this region are made up of those of Khmer origin, Chinese, Cham, and Vietnamese.

Country side and beach trip

Took a day trip about 40 kilometers out of Can Tho it was a nice day (But needed to get out of that city) wile riding on my friends motor bike, we came across a nice Monkey Bridge mad of bamboo. Most of these have been replaced by concrete bridges to accommodate motor bikes, these days. So my friend walked out on the bridg as I took her picture. In the past they where used every were traditionally in Vietnam for crossing canals.
On the way we spotted a women selling Ice Cream to little boy,I took their pic .
Another time took a 3 day trip to the beach, on the way we saw some fising boats on the river by the sea. At the beach there was a Buddhist temple in a cave by the sea.
Incense stick making

One stop of on the tour is to see someone making incense sticks by the road side - it's amazing to think that they are all hand-made -watching the girl rolling away at top speed almost made me feel grateful for my own job!!
Soil transport vessel

Soil transport vessel
Majority of the bigger vessels that found in the Mekong Delta region are transporting soils dug up from the canal. The soils are most likely to be use for land fill or agricultural purposes, also one way to secure soils “stolen” from Russia and China.
Mekong River source from Russia passes through China in land, to Laos and Cambodia bringing million tones of soils washing from those lands overtime.
That makes me think that US motive for Vietnam War is probably due to the forecast where Russia & China will be getting hollow, but Vietnam will getting larger. Hope the censorship will not destroy this tip for spreading the Mekong Theory.
