marvellous!!!

We spent a week at the Furama resort in Da Nang (September 5 to September 12, 2007) and had a wonderful time there. The hotel is just as marvellous as it is presented on its website. Wonderfully spacious swimming pools, a beautiful sandy beach, very good restaurants, spacious rooms, very good service and very friendly staff made our stay unforgettable.
I can only recommend this beautiful place!
No way 5 stars!

My wife and I were staying 2 weeks in mid-June along the coast of Vietnam - Hue, Hoi An and Danang. Danang was our last stop and we had
booked for 5 nights at the Furama Resort Hotel Danang, based on reviews. Although the Furama was the highest priced of the 3 hotels where we stayed it was by far the worst. From check in until checkout
the service was non existent. The food was acceptable although it was
of low quality and it was very overpriced. An example was an appetizer of 4 boiled shrimp for US$12! Because of the extremely poor
service and quality we decided to return home 3 nights early, although or room had been prepaid. We decided it was better to lose the money than tolerate poor service and quality! I shall never recommend this hotel to anyone, even my worst enemy!
Complacency rules

Our travel agent booked us into the Furama resort as a base from which to explore the area - at the same time being a bit of a place to tke a rest half way through our rather demanding schedule in Vietnam. We are not beach types.
Our room is large and well equipped although the free internet proves that you get what you pay for - ie not very much!! I would agree that the food is generally disappointing, rather a problem when there is no alternative nearby.
In all, we felt the isolated location of the hotel to be the main problem. It appears that the Furama have had it all to themselves for far too long and have become complacent. The beach is lovely and the situation ideal - so the arrival of three more large resorts that we can see (and surely more in the planning stages) should ensure that standards will need to be addressed before long.
We weren't sorry to leave. The Furama could have done a good deal more for us - a more frequent shuttle to Hoi An at convenient times of the day, a shorter menu with better quality food, changed frequently, and more activities/diversions for those who prefer not to sit in the sun all day long.
I'd choose somewhere in Hoi An next time.
Great resort

Although the Furama is in a rather isolated location, its facilities are beautiful--two swimming pools, a library, tennis courts, lovely restaurants, and huge rooms complete with a marble bathroom with both tub and shower, a sofa, desk, and kingsize bed. The property is located right at a beautiful beachfront. We enjoyed our stay here. The breakfast buffet was huge. The dinner and drink prices rather high.
We were initially given a room close to an area where there was considerable hammering going on. We requested and got a change in rooms immediately. Service at the reception desk and in the restaurant was good. The service at the bar lounge could have been a bit more attentive, considering the fact that we were the only people there in the late afternoon.
However, we would stay at this resort again.

Danang in December
by jolotokyo
Hello everyone,
I am planning a trip with my boyfriend to Vietnam in the beginning of December. We would like to stay where we can enjoy the beach, yet get to a lot of interesting places to see as well. So far, we have narrowed it down to Danang (Furama Resort) or Hoi-an (Victoria), but we are a bit worried about the weather. Is it too cold in December to enjoy the beach at these resorts? Does anyone have further input to help us decide between these two places?
Thanks!
