Location, location, location
I have stayed at this property twice, once in June 2006(off-season) and again in July 2007(in-season). The first time it was very nice, the mini-suite on the 11th floor, under the small rooftop swimming pool, was fabulous for about $75/night, including a very nice free breakfast buffet. This room has a large picture window facing the beach with an incredible view, a little balcony over the street, a bathroom and a half, two minibars and a sitting area. The bathroom is very nice with a separate tub and shower stall.
The second time the place was packed, the room I was promised had been given out to another guest earlier so I got a similar room a couple of floors lower with less privacy and obstructed view. Of course, in 13 months the price had gone up about $10/night. The people were not as nice at the hotel and around town in general in July as they had been the previous June. They seemed sort of burned out with dealing with so many tourists.
That almost everyone who goes to the beach goes only between 5 and 8 both in the morning and in the evening is pretty unique. It is just so hot during the days and the Vietnamese have a phobia about getting any sun on their skin so only tourists are under the cabanas mid-day. The "Sailing Club" nearby the ASIA PARADISE Hotel has nice shade and bar service with very cold beer.
Unique Quality: Good, not great, breakfast buffet. Always a good idea to get there earlier than later for best selection of fruit and other items. Bring your own fruit juice, theirs is terrible. Buy a box or two of tasty juice, like the strawberry or apple, at a local store and keep it in your minibar and it bring with you to breakfast.
