Travel Tips for Nha Trang

another massage...

by call_me_rhia

Suspa is a new massage abd beauty farm in the centre of Nha Trang... Serene beauty, it claims... and this is exactly what they deliver. The place is really nice (poshly nice) and clean, and it has the advantage of having large massage rooms, so it's possible to have couple massages.

This is not a place for therapeutical massages, but for relaxing ones I can surely recommend it. The aromatheraphy massage lasts 90 minutes and it's very relaxing... we slept all the way through, actually. Prices are quite high (25 US dollars) for local standardsbut the quality is quite good.

Before and after the massage you are offered tea, as well as fruits and a delicious pannacotta-sort-of dessert. The spa is located at 93 Nguyen Thuen Thuat St, and it's best to book as they are often full. Closing time is at 10 PM.

Breathtaking scenery on the bumpy way- Chapter 2

Simply blue, simply awesome...

On one side, it's this amazing beach, on the other, it's the high cliff. What an adventure!!!

No worries, the road is soon to be completed in the near future! So you can enjoy this view easily.

Mr Pham Tan Dung operates nhatrangrivertour, also known as Dung Tour. We highly recommend his services, having utilized them on a one day tour for a group of 18 in Dec, 2006.
He was professional, thoughtful, informative. His rates were very reasonable, $20USD/person.

Ponagar Cham Temper

by vietgo

The third day in Nha Trang, we decided to rent a taxi for all day. It took from us 800,000 vnd for 4 seats cab. There are some taxi vendors in Nha Trang but on my opinion Mai Linh taxi is the best; their staff’s English skill is quite good, easy going and honest.

The day trip started with Ponagar temper.
The Po Nagar Cham temper is one of the many relics of the Champa Kingdom, which was the most significant power in South Vietnam from 200 - 1720 AD. Despite being a major trading civilization, it never weilded a great deal of power, and so never really competed with the Khmers in the south or Viets in the North.

The Cham civilization had spread from Ancient India, and it is interesting to see some similarities between the design of Cham monuments and some others within India.

In Nha Trang the Cham Ponagar temple complex (locally refered to as Thap Ba) is situated on a hill just outside the city, and is reached by crossing the Cai River from the main tourist stretch.

At the complex there are four tempers remaining from an original eight, each
of which shows differences in style, indicated they were built over an extended period between the seventh and 12th centuries AD. The largest, which stands at 23m high, was built in 817 AD and contains a lingham and a statue dedicated to Ponagar, or Lady Thien Y-ana, the beautiful wife of Prince Bac Hai.

It is said that Lady Thien Y-ana taught new agricultural and weaving techniques to people of the area, and in gratitude they built the temper to honour her.

Entrance to the tempers costs 50,000 vnd and opening hours are from 6 AM - 6 PM. Late afternoon is a good time to visit
