School children
by magor65
As everywhere else during our trip in SE Asia, also here in Nha Trang children proved to be eager to exchange some words with us, or at least smiles. Comparing to the children of Cambodia and Laos, it is obvious that Vietnamese kids have better lives and can afford much more than their peers from neighbouring countries. We didn't see any classrooms, but the school buildings look solid and even rich. Pupil's uniforms consist of navy blue trousers or skirts for girls and a white shirt with a red scarf. In some schools girls wear traditional ao dai. The two little boys in photo 2 and 3 followed us for quite a long time, repeating: "good morning, what's your name?", until we waved them off fearing they might walk too far from home or school. Despite carrying backpacks, they weren't dressed in school uniforms. Perhaps they attended kindergarten?
Beachside Cafes

One of the things I liked about Nha Trang, was the lovely Restaurants and cafes dotted alongside the Beach.
This was a really nice spot to enjoy an evening meal, which I did
Another time, I enjoyed having my Icecream here, views overlooking the beach and the far islands, people watching and reading my book, this was the life! Have a look at the photos to see how nice they are!
Scuba dive in Nha Trang
by kelnsha
You can either scuba dive or snorkel here by booking a full or half day outing with one of the dive shops in Nha Trang.
A full day outing including boat transport, 2 or 3 dives and lunch typically cost between US$35 and US$90. Most dive operators also offer a range of dive courses, including a 'discover diving' programme for uncertified, first-time divers to experience the thrill under the supervision of a qualified dive master.
It is difficult to recommend one dive operator over another: my best advice is to shop around, speak to a few different operators and use your better judgement. I spoke to three dive operators (Coco, Octopus & Rainbow Divers) and they provide good customer service. I chose Coco Dive Center because they are much cheaper. You do not need to bring any dive gears here becuase they are all inclusive in the dive package. The only difference is you pay US$5 less if you bring all your dive equipment. If you prefer using your own gear, just bring your dive mask and snorkel will do.
Do bring sunblock or sunscreen if you do not wish to be burned. Of course, suntan lotion or oil if you want to have a good tan.
Good breakfasts
by Willettsworld about Same Same But Different Cafe
This is a good little place that was just down the road from where I was staying. I had a good breakfast here every morning and a lunch of a burger and chips & drink for 52,000 VND. The food is great with Thai dishes on offer, along with Vietnamese and western food which comes with friendly service. Breakfast of baguette, butter, jam and coffee costs 30,000 VND.
Nha Trang Beach
by iwys
This is arguably the best beach in Vietnam: 5km of soft, golden sand. It is never overcrowded. I was there during the peak Tet season and although there were plenty of promenaders, the beach itself was still mostly empty. There are clusters of tourists under the umbrellas, where the sunbeds are for hire at a rate of 10,000 VND (60 cents) per day, and where you can order drinks. The sea is a little rough at times, but you can still swim in it.
The central section of the beach is the most popular. If you go to the northern section, especially in the morning, you will have a long stretch of beach all to yourself.
Most of the hotels and restaurants are along the beachfront on Tran Phu Boulevard, so you can walk across the road for a meal or a drink.
