Khach San Phu Hotel
by SirRichard
I didn't enter in this nice hotel, I just walked by, but it seemed to me an interesting option if you are looking for a high standard classical chinese style hotel.
It is located in the middle of Tran Phu Street, at the left as you walk from the Japanese Bridge.
Accomodation in Hoi An
by peterANDsharon about An Phu Hotel
This hotel was only 1 month old when we stayed there(July 2003). It is owned by the local tour guide company, and was a real deal for only US$11 per night, for a room with a balcony. New, and 4 star accomodation. Its located about 2 blocks from the centre of Old Hoi An town, so its nice and quiet. It has cable internet on each floor, a nice pool, and the tour company operates its tours from the hotel's lobby. Just be prepared to be asked to go on a tour every time you leave the lobby!
The staff were super friendly, and very helpful. (thanks to Van). There was always a smiling face to talk to when bored !
If you catch the bus from Hue or Da Nang, it will automatically take you past every other hotel in town, and stop at the An Phu hotel, as the bus company owns the hotel.

Private Cabanas on the beach
by windsorgirl about Tropicana Resort on Phu Quoc Island
Tropicana's staff will be at the airport to greet you, and their hospitality and friendliness will never let you down during your entire stay. This resort is located within walking distance of Duong Dong town and the cost of the room includes a delicious breakfast. I recommend the banana pancake and iced coffee!
Pure nature and relaxing
by prazlin about Mai House Resort
Mai House offers natural style bungalows in a tropical garden. It´s a place for a real relaxing time, many palm trees and a beautiful quiet beach..you can get a massage from one of the many massage ladies waiting at the beach (1 h only 3 $) Great food at the restaurant and the staff is very friendly. You can get to Phu Quoc by plane from Saigon (only 1 hour) or by boat from Rach Gia (about 3 hours).
Cheap and Cheerful
by cheerssweetie about Phu An Hotel
This hotel is nice and clean and doesn't cost you an arm and a leg.
Its small hotel with 20 rooms, some with balconies. Hotel has a lift.
Airconditioning in all rooms, some have bath tubs, Satelite Television, Use of Internet, Bookings for onward travel, tours, Breakfast, Motorbikes for hire.
My stay here was short 2 nights, I found the staff to be efficent and courteous. All rooms have T.V., refrigerator, IDD access and are furnished with furniture made from tropical woods, providing modern conveniences with traditional charms.
It is within walking distance of Post Office, eateries etc.
Beaches and Guesthouses in Vietnam
by cmarsek about Yellow House Hotel HCMC
I highly recommend Mui Ne. The sand dunes there are VERY impressive. Things are a bit more spread out and public transport is not widely available, so you will need to hire a driver or use taxis. I highly recommend the White Sand dunes at sunset. It's fantastic!
Nha Trang is nice, but very touristy and as a result, you must hold onto your bag a little tighter here.
I've not been to Phu Quoc, but that's on my list for my next visit.
Never HCMC is Vung Tao, but the water and sands are not very nice here. It IS good for a day trip from HCMC (via hydro foil boat) if you need something else to do outside of the city and you want to relax.
As for guesthouses, I always stay at the Yellow House in HCMC because the people who run it are GOOD people and the price is very reasonable. You have hot water and AC, but there are not frills here. It is basic. Vietnam recently added a new tax to everything, so the price for a room for two there might be about $11-$14, I'm not sure. It's right in the heart of the backpacker area, and it has a money change service and travel tours desk. You also get a simple breakfast.
In Mui Ne I stayed at the Malibu Resort...and it was very nice as well, with a nice breakfast offered. It was a bit off from the main strip, but it was just down the road from the Yellow Sand Dunes.
Good luck!
