I think this has to be the most friendly hotel I have ever stayed in.The folks here are just so welcoming it's unbelievable. We arrived by car from Hoi An and they immediately gave us a welcome drink and some fruit. There were rose petals strewn on the bed,and they told us that we would get free cake and fruit every afternoon.Nothing was too much trouble for them.we did two tours from the hotel, since we only spent 2 days in Hue and we wanted to see a lot- the City tour including the citadel and the tombs, and a cruise on the Perfume River, and a day tour of the DMZ.Both were excellent.Breakfast was ample . Friendly staff.

Agree with all the comments. Chi and her colleagues could
not have been more helpful and earnest in recommending
vegetarian restaurants, sights, etc. Booking us for boats,
taxis also. One tip- if you book a private driver to take you to
the tombs and sights, ($US12)make sure you double check that a whole day includes anywhere you want to go..we had a driver that tried to make us pay an additional fee for a few miles out of the city.
(he didn't succeed!) Wonderful hotel and staff.
Clean and lovely staff

I honestly couldnt find anything wrong with this hotel.
Its was spotless and moden, which is rare in Vietnam. The lady who runs it speaks very good english and is super efficent.
The location is right in the centre, near all the shops and resturants, if your stopping in Hue you must stop at this hotel it is faultless and all for $35 a night...brilliant.
Great Service

Great hotel particularly the front desk staff (actually, all the staff) who were both very helpful and both had a great sense of humour. Room was clean and well-eqipped - we were in a triple room (#201). Actually, the hotel had the best bathroom so far that we have found for hotels at this price level in Vietnam.
Hue was more interesting and charming than we expected - however two full days would be the most I would stay there for. When you go the citadel, the guidebooks seem to direct you to the sites towards the right as you enter the main entrance but we found far more interesting sites if you go directly left as you enter.
Ridiculously good value for money. 5 stars all the way

We booked this hotel after reading such good reviews and it sounded too good to be true, but it all WAS true. We were picked up for free from the train station by the hotel manager, which is a relief after a tiring 14 hour train ride. The hotel was absolutely immaculate, the room was top quality, it even had a dvd player! The staff were great, very friendly and helpful and a little bit cheeky which was nice cos they really become your friends. The breakfast was great, a help yourself buffet of everything from rice and noodles, to fruit, bacon sausage and eggs, cheese, yoghurt, cake and anything else you wanted. The only thing I couldn't get over was that it only cost $25 for 2 people a night! They arranged a private car to drive us to Hoi An for $50, a little bit extravagent for us, but it was worth it as the driver stopped off at a beautiful quiet beach on the way, and at viewpoints all along the way to take photos of breathtaking scenery over bays etc. The tour bus was much cheaper but goes through the tunnel instead of over the mountain pass and does not stop to take photos. Our driver also stopped off at the marble mountains for us so that saved us paying for a tour. The only downpoint was constant harrassment from hawkers along the way. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone and to get in quick while its so cheap. They are closing in May to build a honeymoon suite on the top floor which will be a knockout I'm sure. Stay here, you wont be disappointed.
Rave on the Orchid

The Orchid Hotel in Hue is, simply put, a fantastic value. For under $30 per night, you and a friend will have a well-appointed, tastefully-decorated room in a modern building, an excellent breakfast, and the best service I’ve met in five-plus years’ living in Vietnam and travelling often. It’s best to make a reservation in advance – word is getting around since the Orchid opened up at 30A Chu Van An in midsummer 2006. In Vietnam, phone 54-831-177. And note, your taxi or motorbike driver will know it as the Hoa Lan, which is Orchid in Vietnamese.
About the service – I think the staff at the Orchid Hotel really does study the evaluation forms that guests leave behind. I think they care, and even better, they understand what’s important to Western and Vietnamese-Western guests (the clientele the three nights Tuyet and I were there was about 50:50, just like us). There’s good Internet access from the lobby and from your room. There’s a stack of recent DVD’s you can borrow when you weary of CNN and VTV. The front desk staff can find you a guide who’s actually a scholar and a survivor of Hue’s 20th century upheavals. They’ll surprise you with a bouquet and a cake because you mentioned, almost absent-mindedly, that you are celebrating your anniversary. And the Orchid Hotel team will take good care of you if you are felled by a 24-hour tummy flu. This we know from direct experience..
Great room, great staff

We arrived at the Orchid Hotel after a long day cruising the river and visiting the tombs. They immediately gave us a cold drink of water and were so friendly and funny. We were informed our Superior Double room was not available and we would be upgraded to a Deluxe Twin. The room was spacious and luxurious, with a DVD player, kimonos, fridge, AC and coffee making facilities. During our stay there was a power outage but it affected the whole city. It's a 2* breakfast but the free internet and DVDs more than make up for it. Would return and recommend highly.
Stay Here!!!

We have been at the Orchid Hotel for 3 nights while in Hue and it has been brilliant. You couldn't ask for more friendly and helpful staff, the rooms are stylish, comfortable and immaculate and little extra touches like free internet and free DVDs for your room make it even better. All for really really reasonable rates. Our room was on the 6th floor, a complimentary upgrade as we arrived a day earlier than planned, the rooms have great views of the Perfume River if you are high enough up. We have been in Asia for a while now and this is definately the best place we have stayed!

Best bang for the buck in Hue. I could not believe how good our room was. Everything was very new, large room, two queen beds, dvd player with movies for the kids. As they say, "you will be surprised".
Staff was fantastic. So friendly and helpful.
