Adelaide River Inn Tourist Park: Great campground
We stayed here during our 4X4 safari, and slept in our tents. Easy to find, well situated near facilities after we had been outback for a couple of weeks. Being attached to the historical Adelaide River Inn, the restaurant is right there, so great for a meal. I highly recommend this for the meal and for the interesting items inside the Inn.
The gas station is also nextdoor and you can buy small supplies here.
The trees were nice and we had a great grassy area for our tents. The showers and ablutions were closeby and very very impressive. Clean and very satisfying.
The campground, being next to the highway, can sometimes be a little noisey with the roadtrains passing, although many of them actually stop here for the night.
Remember also that Adelaide River is inland from Darwin and hence the temperatures at night can be quite low.
Not far from the campground is the Adelaide River War Cemetary, a very historical place.
The ablutions were amazing, including private shower rooms that were quite hotel like. A convenient laundry facility as well.
Across the road from Glen Huitson Park, where we found a small market with some nice local wares.

Adelaide River Caravan Park
Adelaide River Caravan Park is ok for a one night stay. It has a nice pool, cool pub and good dinner options with a lovely outdoor setting for enjoying a nice meal.
Unfortunately the camp grounds are a little close to the highway and we were woken early in the morning by the horn of a train passing through.
