The resort is situated in a parklike setting with high, old gumtrees; buildt in 4 low-rise courts , it houses 140 luxury- and standard rooms looking towards Todd-River and the resorts large garden.
Rooms are rather large and convenient with ensuite bathrooms w shower and tub and offer all necessary amenities. There is a very good restaurant, where also seafood is served, and an adjacent bar with open-air facilities, looking towards the (not too big) pool and very small pool-area..
Unique Quality: Nicely positioned , only a ten-minutes walk to the city center. Convenient, large rooms.

It is a sacred place. You can only view and photo of the rock from desgnated location.
And.....you can climb up the rock!
I chose not to.
We stayed at Alice Springs Resort.
Try BBQ Kangaroo. (I'm not kidding.)

My wife and myself will be staying in Alice Springs in March. We want a decent quality hotel with a bath rather than just a shower. Generally tourist feedback sites eg Trip Advisor paint a worrying picture of the standards and condition of what is available.
The " better hotels" eg Lasseters and Crown Plaza are described as good but too far out of town,
Before i make a booking would appreciate any recommendations and feedback anyone can give.

Not sure if you both will be suited to Alice Springs athough it is a great place in the context of the outback. You will want to get out and about and explore the gorges and scenery of the Mcdonnell Ranges and will come home a little hot in March with a touch of red dust in your hair. A cool swim in the pool will take precedence over a bath I can assure you. Lots of very good standard accommodation in Alice. On one of a number of visits we stayed in an upmarket villa/cabin in a good caravan/ holiday park where you meet some great ordinary australians and other travellers. Have also stayed in good motels. The accommodation places you mention are both good. Have a good trip and enjoy the spirit of the outback.

We stayed in a really nice hotel just on the edge of town (5 minute walk to the shops/Todd mall) which is the Alice Springs resort. http://www.alicespringsresort.com.au/ Had a lovely pool and the rooms were spacious and airy and have baths in the bathroom (check all the rooms do, but I know ours did so am assuming they all do!).
Some of the other hotels are a little bit out of town but the Alice Springs resort is easy walking distance to town as its just the other side of the Todd River (no water!) to town.
If you do anything at all while you are in Alice Springs take a hot air balloon ride over the outback. You have to get up ridiculously early in the morning but its still one of the greatest things I have ever done.
