The Lasseters Casino is located in the Casino and within walking distance to town (approx 10 – 15mins). It’s also backs onto the MacDonnell Ranges and the Golf Course. Other hotels are a few minutes away like the Crowne Plaza and the Desert Palm Hotel.
We had previously stayed at the Crowne Plaza and loved our room but decided to try something different this trip, the Casino Hotel was our next choice.
Our room 3202 was a suite which I had booked through wotif and received a good rate. On opening the double front doors our suite consisted of a large lounge/dining room with a cute bar and small kitchenette area. The lounge room had two small settees and doors leading out to a balcony which overlooked the swimming pool.
Our separate bedroom was massive with a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite. Plenty of excellent toiletries and a shower over a spa bath. The king size bed was extremely comfortable and we had a fabulous night sleep.
Broadband was available on the working desk in the lounge room and two plasma TV’s were supplied one in the lounge and the other in the bedroom. The air-conditioner worked like a dream which is the utmost importance when staying in Alice Springs.
We ordered breakfast in our room as why waste the dining table, and the food was okay although we were disappointed that fresh fruit was not on the menu.
In the evening we dined at the main restaurant and found the food to be ordinary and the staff extremely slow. I highly suggest dining in town, it’s much cheaper and there is plenty of different options available. On Saturday night the Casino restaurant offers a seafood buffet for $37.00 (for 2) which is excellent value if you want to save some dollars. The food again was ordinary but it did offer excellent value.
The swimming pool is a good size but not as private as the Crowne Plaza Hotel next door.
If hiring a car driving to the West MacDonnell Ranges is a must do on your list and can be easily done as a day trip from Alice. We found Simpson’s Gap, Ellery Creek and Ormiston Gorge to be the best spots to stop, however all were interesting offering dramatic scenery.
Overall, we enjoyed our extremely comfortable king size bed and spacious room. Although, I did prefer our suite in Crowne Plaza Hotel to Lasseter’s Hotel suite mainly because of the lovely views of the ranges.
For Alice Springs, I think both the Lasseter's and Crowne Plaza offer excellent outback comfortable stays .

I stayed here for 2 nights Dec 27 and 28 prior to travelling to Darwin on the Ghan train. It was a nice enough hotel but you need transportation to the city. There was the hotel bus that left at 9 am and picked you up again at noon, and did travel in again at 4 pm, which was convenient for catching the train. My room was ground floor, fairly large, and comfortable. The bathroom had a bath! (always a favourite thing for me). There is a fridge with a well equipped mini bar. The pool was average, not much shelter. I felt a bit isolated walking to my unit which was at the farthest end of the hotel.
This hotel has a casino attached to it. One thing about NT that has not yet come into effect is the NO SMOKING in casinos rule. Everyone smoked in the casino and when you picked up your winnings you got ash on your fingers. It was gross. I spent my time in the non smoking section. It will be nice when they finally ban smoking. The seafood buffet at on Saturday night was wonderful, the service was great and I really enjoyed it. On Sunday I had dinner at the Juicy Rump and I was able to order anytime. I had wanted to have dinner early and had a nice steak at 4:30 pm. The front counter staff and security was very good.
Directions: This hotel is out of town a ways. If you come in by plane then the shuttle bus ($12) will take you there. It is on the way from the airport to town.
