Don't stay here!!
This place was a BIG disapointment and definitely not true to the description in Lonely Planet or the quality shown on the hotel web site. I strongly recommend giving this one a miss - stay at the new Vibe/Medina at the Wharf - brand new, much better value and good proximity to everything - and FREE parking (as opposed to $13/day at Darwin Central).
The rooms at Darwin Central are extremely dated, particularly the bathrooms, which we found dirty, mouldy and with spiders in one corner - in plain view. The staff were unhelpful (particularly the manager, April) and the cancellation policy is misleading and inflexible.
There were ants in the hotel room, something that is clearly widespread in the hotel, as the literature in the room mentioned that there are "small insects" in the hotel (see photo).
The hotel hair dryer had bare wires - a fire hazard.
Overall, a very tired and poorly managed hotel. There are many better options in Darwin - stay at one of them instead.

Great room with full kitchenette but no view - unless you include the part of the wall outside. The windows don't open but the aircon works fine. No smoking anywhere means if you are addicted to nicotine, you are forced to swelter outside the front entrance. When we were there in September, the opening times of the cafe where the buffet breakfast is located seemed very limited & there is no bar!
Unique Quality: The plunge pool is just what it says - very small & limited space for seats means it is only useful for cooling off

Darwin Central Hotel
The Darwin Central Hotel (4½ star) is located in the heart of Darwin City. The hotel is within walking distance to cinemas, theatres, nightclubs, restaurants and shopping.
The room was large and clean, and the staff very friendly. I have nothing bad to say, it’s a very nice place to stay.
The hotel has 132 rooms (many with kitchenettes). In connection to the hotel, you'll find a restaurant, two cafés and a bar.
