While in Darwin I chose to stay at Elkes...Darwin as I was aware is sometimes a very difficult place to get accomodation for more than a couple of days...and this was the only place available while ringing around that had a single room. There are different types of accomodation here and the single room that I had was clean ,with two beds air conditioning and fan and a refrigerator....The kitchen area was large and clean.with a large refrigerator ..clean large toilets..and a big BBQ area with lawns to sit..and a small swimming pool under trees with lots of welcomed shade..There is a bus stop right outside where busses go into town and Mindel markets and the Casino..This place apparently doesn't mind long stays..as a lot of B/packers stay on and work in Darwin..this is an accomodation A two minute walk gets you to the pleasant Bi Cenntenial Park on the Bay..I would stay here again..it has everything that you want..
Unique Quality: allows longer stays..has a small and clean swimming pool..good large washing machines..plenty of hanging space for washed clothes..a bus stop outside (both sides of the road) ..there is a bicycle hire here..large BBQ area..
Directions: right down the bottom of Mitchell St..a long walk to where all the action is..
Unique Quality: I havn't stayed here, but it does appear to be a friendly backpackers close to Darwin City.
