We stayed here on two separate occasions and found it to be more than adequate both times. Situated within close walking distance from the city shops, and also just across the road from the beach. Although it's not a swimable beach because of the threat of crocodiles. There is a very spectacular atrium with nice vines hanging from each floor balcony. Plenty of plantlife on the ground floor combining the bar and restaurant and even a water feature. This gives the feeling of a 'jungle' and is very pleasant. Staff are very amiable and willing to help. Great friendly bunch.
There is a small very visable internet kiosk, not very private and in the lobby. A good and well equiped guest laundry with washers and driers, both $AUD3 to operate. Coins and detergent available at the desk. Nice swimming pool out back. Bar and restaurant. Most things one needs.
A little more expensive than most, but rooms are very well set up for longer term or buisness stays. All rooms are fitted with refriderators and irons boards. Very accomadating.
I had pre-booked our room over the internet and paid extra for a harbour view room. We arrived at 2am to be told that there were no harbour view rooms available and that they would transfer us to one the next day. As it turned out, the room that they put us in temporarily had a nice limited view of the harbour and parkland. The next day we were instructed just to leave our luggage and key and they would move us while we were out. They did this, as promised, except we ended up moved to a room located exactly where we had been except on the opposite side - so we still only had a limited view of the harbour and the extra bed wasn't as comfortable as the original room. Had I have known this, I would have just stayed put. Besides this, we were happy with the standard of the room and the cleanliness. I was travelling with my Mum so we did need the second bed (definitely!) and the first room had a proper single that was made up, whereas the second room only had a pull-out sofa bed which wasn't as comfortable. The hotel is well situated. It is very central to the town centre and opposite the park which is a nice way to get to various sights. The foyer was lovely to sit in to waste time waiting for our flight home. It has a nice atmosphere with the water features and palms. The staff overall were really helpful and friendly. They let us store our luggage with them for the day while we were sightseeing and phoned for taxis and shuttle buses etc. I had never asked to change rooms before and were happy with how they handled it even if I didn't get the view I hoped for in the end. There is a large carpark for your hire car which isn't secure but is free to use. The hotel has a large change room which we used to get ready for our flight home because we had checked out earlier that morning.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Atrium. I loved the outdoor feel that was created by the actual "atrium" in the hotel. Staff were very friendly and took the time to provide us with information that we requested. Lovely rooms - recently refurbished - and a great pool area.
The interior of this hotel is quite spectacular. The lobby area is a great place to chill after a day exploring the sights of Darwin. The hotel is very close to the main shopping areas of Darwin City.
