BATEMANS BAY
by BerniShand
The bridge you can see in the picture spans the mouth of the Clyde river, its possible to take a cruise up the river, several companies run them from the harbour, but what Batemans Bay seems really big on is fishing, there were lots and lots of fishing trips available, its also a great place for bird watching
Its an attractive area, we didnt get chance to explore as we were just passing through, but the beaches looked lovely
Water Gardens
by chrissy_11
There is an area at the southern end of town, which has been developed into a delightful place to wander through and enjoy the sights and sounds of different birds and their habitat.
Sometimes the black swans are visible......occasionally with their young. There are also Swamp Hens and ducks.
I have seen the Water Gardens from one extreme to the other, ie, full of water and absolutely dry, owing to the extensive drought in 2006 and early 2007.
Murramarang Resort near Batemans Bay

"Murramurang Resort"
Many people from Sydney and Wollongong spend their holiday time "down the coast". This borad term "down the coast" can refer to anywhere from Kiama down to Eden near the Victorian border. We have amazingly only ever had one family holiday "down the coast" and that was at Murramurang Resort, which is just out of Batemans Bay, about a 3 hours drive from Wollongong.
Georgia was not quite yet age 1 yet, and I remember she wasnt walking which made it a bit tricky as there was Kangaroo poo everywhere on the grass!!! You can maybe see from this picture of Andrew with the Kangaroo, all the brown stuff on the grass that may look like rocks, is actually kangaroo poo!! This place has kangaroos running wild and free throughout it, which is nice. It is by the beach and just a lovely place to relax and get away from it all.
"Go exploring"
There are plenty of places to explore if you are staying at Murramarang. There is the headland, with heaps of interesting rockpools. Also, there are plenty of good bushwalking tracks through the bush. If you want to get in touch with nature, you can certainly do it here!
"Water sports"
The beach at Murramarang is a calm beach with not too big waves, making it perfect to enjoy lots of watersports, like canoeing, waveskis, etc.
