Searching for a room....

by laurenmoyes

Hi all,
I am going to be in Byron Bay for the summer period, and have already booked a place to stay in a hostel. However, as I am there for a few months, I don't really want to be paying high prices for a dorm the whole time, and would like to rent somewhere - house or unit I don't really mind. Does anyone know of where places are advertised?
Thanks

Finding a room in Byron Bay in the summer could be very hard, It's a popular place and most that have apartments/rooms will be trying to get the tourist dollar.
Local newpapers usually have advertisments for rooms to rent etc. Saturday is the day that most advertisments are in.Also supermarkets have notice boards outside of their shops, check these out.
I am not sure what the local paper in Byron Bay is, you will just have to google that and see.

Booking into the hostel is a good idea, from here you could find a room etc. All Hostels have notice boards with rooms to rent etc. You will be others that are probably looking for the same as you. BUT the Hostel prices might be cheaper and you may find yourself staying there.

Good luck.

Travel Tips for Byron Bay

Magnificent Coastline

by Sweetberry1

The beaches along this coast are great.
You can go surfing, fishing, or anything else that takes your fancy.
Byron Bay is well known for Artists, Authors, Poets, and Musicians.
They also host a 4 day "Blues & Roots Festival" over the Easter Holiday. What a wonderful time to visit Byron Bay.. Just the serene beauty of the place. You can holiday in high style here, or you can go camping, treking, mountain climbing,
safaris to the outback, whatever makes you happy. Or just lay on the beach and enjoy.

Good Grub

by jrjohnson about Earth and Sea Pizza and Pasta

I followed member Sweetberry's tip on this restaurantt and she was dead on! Thanks for the call on this sweetberry... I loved it... actually ate there on back to back evenings. I just had the pizza... a few different types...all good. For some reason pizza after being at the beach in the sun all day tastes soooooo good. Pasta looked good too, but I didn't try it.

Cape Byron Lighthouse

by ATXtraveler

Byron Bay's most prominent neighbor is the Cape Byron Lighthouse, located out to the east of town.

Situated about 100 meters above the sheer wall of rock with the Pacific Ocean below, the Cape Byron lighthouse really is beautiful. It was designed and built in 1899, and was commissioned in 1901... after a one-day wait, due to of all things... bad weather keeping Sir John See the honorable away because of no lighthouse to guide him in!

Whale Watching

by Colzy

Byron Bay is a perfect place for a spot of whale watching. Humpback whales begin their annual migration in May/June when they head north to warmer waters to breed. They return south around September/October when they often come into the Bay and breach and frolic with their calves. A truly amazing sight.

There are a number of companies around Byron that offer whale watching tours and take you out on a boat so you are up close and personal. A good example is Underwater which is endorsed by New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service.

The whales are also visible from the shore so if you are in the ares during these months keep your eyes peeled. I could only find a piccy of a pod of about 25 dolphins I saw off shore there recently so if you can see them I hope you enjoy. Dolphins are also a regular fixture of the landscape. Enlarge the pic and see if you can make them out :)

"Byron Bay - So much to offer"

Visiting Byron Bay (BB) was to me a real eye opener, not only has it got great surf but scenic wise this place is great. Located between Tweed Heads and Ballina (south) the beaches and town itself lends itself to influences from travellers around the world. Laying claim to some magnificent beaches BB also has Aussies most eastern point which a rather large lighthouse is.
