Our requirement was a Friday/Saturday night stay in a standard en-suite room at a reasonable price in a location close to Hunter Valley Vineyards. Our search revealed many expensive to outrageously expensive options at "boutique" places all of which had higher prices for those two nights than the other days of the week.
We opted for the "known" Best Western motel chain establishment in the centre of Cessnock operated by (& adjacent to) the Cessnock Rugby League Supporters Club.
Staff were very friendly. Standard of finish, cleanliness, amenities of room were most satisfactory. The building seemed to be only a year or two old.
Plenty of parking: some undercover parking with cramped access. Lift access to upper floors made transport of luggage very easy.
Unique Quality: Cost effective (145AUD/night), centrally located accommodation close to Hunter Valley Vineyards with Club next door offering inexpensive meals, drinks and entertainment.

Pokolbin is the best known wine growing area in New South Wales. There are many wines to suit the palate from the conniseur to the rdinary drinker. The are is very picureque and attracts many tourists each year.
Harrigans is a very popular destination for most visitors, wether it be a quick cold beer or a juicy Bar-B-Cue T-Bone Steak, the visitor will leave well satisfied.
