    My wife & I stayed here a couple of years before the girls were born on the tail end of a Conference she' been helping deliver. We thought then that it was very nice indeed. Fast forward to Fri 18th March & this is where a colleague & I were delivering a LARK Online Workshop for schools. She stayed there on the Thursday night while I flew up on the Friday morning. All the signs are still there of the class of this place & she also thought it was very good. I'm not a big fan of this resort style accommodation, but it suits a certain clientele & can be quite good for families. I'd recommend it on this basis, but in some respects I'd prefer to stay in town near the Jetty & Park Beach where I could walk to the Beach & Cafes & Restaurants.

    Located on the beachfront it offers 6 levels of spacious rooms and suites all with balconies/patios, some of which have very nice ocean views. Within the acres of landscaped grounds it also boasts 3 full sized tennis courts (2 flood- lit), a 48 metre pool (heated during winter) , shaded children’s pool and playground, indoor gym, sauna and spa, mini golf course and games room. Once again for the families (that's us!) there’s a Kids Only Club for 5 -12 year olds. If you're interested I'd check to see if this is offered all the time or only in school holidays (vacation).

    So here's me after saying in the last tip that Resorts aren't my preferred style now telling you that this is where I stayed on Friday night after the LARK Online Workshop. Now a feW things to tell you. When you drive in from the H'Way you'll turn left into the road into the resort. Just down on your left is a single story building which I found out (after drving straight past it initially!) is the Admin' Centre where you check in! There they'll tell you which complex of units/apartments you'll be staying in. I was in "Hillside". Now the other important bit of info if you're considering staying here is go to their website I've listed below & then do a search in the "Hot Deals" at the top right hand side of the webpage which is where I found a lovely room with a King Sized bed for a mere $147 (Australian) instead of the normal $248. That was cheaper than any of the accommodation/hotel websites that I had searched beforehand. Read on below for the info re Resort Statistics & Facilities. It caters to the same market I referred to in the first tip. As a bonus, this is where the Australian Wallabies, Rugby Union team stay when they are in Training Camp at Coffs Harbour so you might happen to be lucky enough to see these guys during your stay.

    Occupying 40 hectares of secluded and highly picturesque beachfront situated only three kilometres north of town. A holiday resort in the true sense, facilities include a restaurant, bar, kids club, billiard room, gym, beauty therapist/masseur, tennis courts, three heated pools and a 9 hole golf course.

    I haven't been fortunate enough to stay here because I live just down the road, but I must say that the location is outstanding -- wonderful views and I am sure that it meets the standards set by Novotel.

    It must have magnificent views (some I have shown in the off the beaten path tips).........Although it is right on the highway, once you have driven in you get this feeling of total peace and seclusion....... a really lovely location with a beautifully quiet beach....heavenly.

    Comfortable and roomy, this place comes with all you'd expect in a normal Aussie motel and the staff have always been helpful. Due to the way it's constructed the rooms are fairly quiet for a motel so close to the highway.

    This motel is all on the ground floor, has its own gym and pool and is set back off the highway. It's called the Big Windmill (originally Der Windmolen) for a rather obvious reason but thereby hangs a tale. While the windmill was being constructed by the homesick Dutchman whose vision it was, he tragically fell and was killed. The windmill was later completed according to his vision (the atmospheric restaurant is situated underneath) and so the motel had its famous landmark. Two other stories may interest you. On one occasion a girl was fixed to one of the blades and did a rotation or two as part of a local radio station stunt and there used to be one of the most genial hosts I've ever known who managed the place who died of a heart attack while playing golf. He was in his early 50's and there is a small plaque behind the counter commemorating his passing. I still feel sad about his loss while writing this.

  • It's comfortable and has all the basic things you need.

    This is on a street that runs parallel to the highway on the other side of a small park. Rooms are comfortable and, if you're into fishing, the owner might chat to you for some time on that topic. Rooms are well appointed but you don't get an excess of minibar goodies. They also have multichannel facilities and the units are set in a U-shape around the carpark and it's a two storey building.

  • I stay here a lot actually. Located just on the southern side of the CBD it's in a block of motels all side-by-side competing with one another.

    It does have a pool and it's about 2 kilometres to the beach so, either way you're covered. It's a little on the worn side, though there are no holes in the carpet or anything. It has foxtel so you get your sport and movie channels and it has its own restaurant for either breakfast or dinner. Beds are comfortable and the rooms well appointed and it's on two levels. Car parking isn't all that great and you may have to park out the back if you arrive late as they are about 8 spaces short on the inside. The staff are friendly and it's a Best Western so I get my points!

    The top resorts in Coffs, Pacific Bay, Opal Cove etc were build about the same time as Aanuka, but as they are looking older, Aanuka with its tropical bali type setting is looking better and better. A great place for a romantic stay.

    Pool has this tropical mountain stream atmosphere. Accomodation looks like grass huts from the outside, but luxurious inside.

    We stay here in the waterfront cabins. They are not very big, but we all fit comfortably and it is only for sleeping after all! Most of the time is spent out doors on the beach. The cabins have showers and a toilet, and there are good amenities for caravaners. The camp kitchen is roomy and a great place to chat with other visitors. Staff are friendly and helpful.

    Great views, excellent 'catch up with your family' destination!

    We usually stay at Arrawarra van park, but decided to go more upmarket for a change. we were not disapointed. Rooms were spacious, clean and layed out in a manner that we felt very secluded even though the resort was at almost full capacity.

    Pools were wonderful, especially the heated one where the baby spent most of his time. Gardens were beautiful and very conducive to relaxation. as we pulled in to the reception driveway, baby said "We're in the jungle!", and he wasn't far wrong...very tropical feel! We enjoyed our stay and will no doubt go back (when they have specials on again!)
