Nothing special
Our family booked an overnight stay in this resort on our way to Queensland from NSW. The website of the hotel is terrific but in reality it is an old resort and it shows, the rooms are tired, the facilities outdated and the overall feeling of the place is that it needs a huge renovation. Our room was a good size but was directly over the very noisy air conditioning tower and smelt musty the whole time.
The stay really took a turn for the worst as a cockroach crawled across the bed as I sat up reading - yuck !
Overall, an OK stay but not worth the price.

Beachfront resort
On a road trip between Sydney and Queensland we stopped hereovernight.
The hotel is a little out-of-town but is conveniently located on the main Pacific Highway and has gardens stretching down to the beach.
It's low rise, has good size rooms with all the amenities you'd expect and they're well looked after.
Unique Quality: The two main benefits are the location. It's on the main north-south Pacific Highway and only a few minutes from Coffs Harbour town centre, but it's also on the beach with a very pleasant garden area.
The whole resort is 36 hectares of sub tropical gardens which include a golf course, swimming pools, freshwater lagoon and the beach.

Party Secrets
Love the place but you need a car if you are staying here. On occasion they have a dance party with top acts so you get to mingle in the dining area with them and party all night - don't worry if you only want to rest as you do not hear it once back in your room which I must say is well appointed.
Unique Quality: Private beach, great pool

Luxury Hotel With Golf Course & Beach
We had a 2 day stay at this hotel which was formerly the Novotel. It is a large resort style hotel with a beautiful 9 hole golf course, large swimming pool with slide, 4 floodlit tennis courts, indoor amusement centre for both young and old, a first class restaurant which also has service to the outdoor verandah. Our room was very nice, a large room by hotel standards with balcony overlooking the large grounds and Pacific Ocean. Reception staff were exceptional, nothing was a problem. Our room was on special, cost was AU$140 per night, golf course view rooms were AU$99 per night.
For golfers they had a low fee of $10 round and I think club hire was free or very low. For $50 you could play golf all week as many times as you wish.
Unique Quality: The ocean view from our room was magnificient, you could also get a golf course view for a cheap price. A morning walk on the beach was very relaxing. The restaurant was also very good and the hotel bar had "happy hour" each evening for $3 per beer or house wine.

This multi-storey motel is set amongst a semi-bushland landscape beside the ocean.
Unique Quality: This upmarket motel is situated about 5kms north of Coffs and is genuine seaside. Having said that, don't get excited by the beach, it's not really safe for swimming. For that exercise there's a chlorine pool. The rooms are luxurious and spacious which is what you'd expect after you book in to your room at the reception area that is graced by a large water feature with marble stairway either side. For balconies that face out towards the ocean expect to pay a little more. The TV is multi channel plus in house movies (expect to pay for the latter) and all the normal facilites, including minibar, are available. The picture is from a part of their splendid gardens and is a Spathodea Campanulata or, in layman's terms...AFRICAN TULIP TREE or FLAME OF THE FOREST. (Thanks to Tapis Volant for the I.D.)

Opal Cove Resort Coffs Harbour Photo: Something to see whatever room you have
I have spent many happy times at this resort although I am yet to sleep there. Over the years I have had many meals and attended quite a few seminars, conferences and meetings here.
Just recently, while it was too hot to dine on the deck (see website photo - overlooking pool), a couple of vters and myself had a most delightful lunch and Ian and I each had a sweet to drool over for weeks. The resort reception is huge and overlooks and magnificent fountain area that leads to the restaurant and bistro downstairs -- and overlooking a fantastic pool.
