Coffs creek
by iandsmith
There's a well known creek in Coffs that splits the main beach.
This little trickle, depending on tides and seas which way it flows, is a bit of a landmark (or should that be seamark) in the area.
It's near where unravelau reputedly goes for her morning walk also, though we have no witnesses to date.
One used to travel past the jetty, over the little bridge and turn right to go to the beach and the caravan park. These days you have to travel half a kilometre further and take a roundabout route to get there.
In summer you will also see lots of little children with their suffering parents (only joking mum) splashing to their heart's content here and I, for one, can't blame them.
Ellenborough Falls - Located on the Bulga Plateau.
by Jerelis
Ellenborough Falls is located on the Bulga Plateau. The Bulga Plateau is a protected landscape and has regional scenic significance. The landscape mainly consists of a steep dissected sedimentary escarpment interspersed with numerous volcanic plugs and associated trachyte flows. The upper escarpment is fringed by a fertile basalt plateau, while lower down plunging ridgelines and low rounded hills dissipate into a subdues landscape of alluvial terraces.
To get to Ellenborough Falls you have to drive through this fascinating landscape.
Side trip

There are a few loops roads around Dorrigo and they take you past some picturesque rural scenery to say the least. Rolling fertile hills (pic 3) with cows grazing (pics 4&5) contentedly make for pleasant viewing at the worst of times and here is no exception.
These are some shots I took on a short loop road, only about 8kms or so.
The Big Banana
by unravelau
The big banana announces a family entertainment area (one of many) in Coffs Harbour. As the name would suggest, bananas have always been a big crop in the area and in recent years compatible farming with avacados has come into being. Not that I know much about farming but it would appear that a suitable climate is important as is hillside planting for the bananas. I don't think that the avacados are so fussy
The Big Banana!

Coffs Harbour is known for its bananas, hence, there is a giant banana visible from the Pacific Hwy, so it's easy to find.
It's about a 7 hour drive from Sydney (there are flights to Coffs Harbour too).
We stayed at one of the numerous world class resorts on the beach. Just paradise! We didn't get to see too much of the town as we enjoyed the resort and just relaxed to recharge those batteries.
If you like the idea of staying in a gorgeous resort on an uncrowded beach, then Coffs is for you!
