On the way to Dubbo
by Sweetberry1
Travelling from South to North, I passed through some of this countries finest towns and cities.
Wagga Wagga is just one of many, and I took this route just so I could see this city.
Unfortunately, this city deserves a longer stay than I was able to give. A truely lovely place, with lots friendly people.

Dubbo is a very nice regional town. It has good shopping and is a nice place to walk around. The Western Plains Zoo is definately a must, easy 3K walk from town along river. It is a world class open plan zoo with pushbikes /golf buggies for hire as the grounds are extensive the electric bike was great! Animal feeding walking tour early in the morning sat & sun. Australian animals roam free and u can get very close up if your quiet. Eye contact with the cheeta was a novel experience and i found myself half hiding behind a small tree !lol
There is also a great Observatory just past the Zoo, run by a real excentric fun guy who has lots of info. The stars look huge and very clear.
I stayed at the YHA which was very convenient to both the town and the major attractions. Its one of the best YHA's i have been in and very inexpensive and the manager Noleen was very hospitable and friendly. The huge fire in the lounge was great to come back to, I went in winter and it was a bit frosty but just nice for lots of walking and bike riding, it was quite warm by midday.
I had a very nice break.
