The Countryman Motel is a Best Western and is positioned in Cobra Street . It is just a few minutes walk into town. There are heaps of motels along this road, almost sitting side by side of each other. The Best Western is a classical country motel , two levels with ample parking provided. The rooms are in typical motel style, a square box with double bed, working desk, small couch, coffee table, tea and coffee facilities, mini bar, internet connection, TV, telephone, wardrobe, and small but tidy and clean bathroom.

The best thing about this motel it has very good quality Thai restaurant and cocktail bar attached. So one needs not to venture out to town. There is an outdoor swimming pool with a grassed closed area which would be good for the kids. Make sure you get a back room as the traffic noise could be annoying.

We were holding a conference in Dubbo and all the hotels were booked out. Other fellow business people came over to our hotel to eat, but mentioned their rooms were better in The Heritage Hotel next door as they had apartments.

On walking around the streets of Dubbo, I did find a lovely complex called Country Apartments which has lovely gardens and little cottages available for overnight or weekly stays. These were situated around the corner from The Best Western in Brisbane Street and looked a better complex to stay, especially if you had children as they had self contained cottages with two bedrooms. www.countryapartmens.com.au .Another suggestion is the RSL also has good accommodation available www.dubborsl.com.au and has suites available including a Presidential Suite for under $170.00AUD.

For entertainment” The Millstone Hotel has a great atmosphere and is very trendy for a country pub. The Local RSL club is also very good and was extremely busy the night we went. The best restaurant is in The Forest Lodge Motel which is run by a French couple. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly.There are non-smoking and smoking rooms available, seemed to be half half....

Overall, The Best Western was a comfortable stay, the rooms agreeable and all the staff very friendly and helpful. It is a pleasant motel with nice facilities.

Pros: Excellent locations minutes from town and cafes etc. Good quality restaurant and bar attached. Friendly staff and rooms adequately comfortable.

Cons: Rooms are on the dark side with limited lighting. People coming and going can easily be heard from inside your room.
