Bicycling to Jenolan Caves - For the Caves!
"Jenolan Caves"
Jenolan Caves are one of the Australia's most important, and most popular caves complex. On my visit I made just one tour to the well recommended Orient Cave.
"Bicycling to and from Jenolan Caves"
The strenuous journey into getting to and from Jenolan Caves is something not to be forgotten, especially if you are travelling there on the same mode of transport to myself - by bicycle! The road, while sealed, is very narrow in places and extreamly steep. It is also closed at certain times during the evening, nonetheless this really applies to motor traffic. At one section of road for about 4KM leading away from the Jenolan Caves resort in the direction towards Oberon, the road makes an extreme 15% incline - make sure you have good gearing! The Jenolan Caves Road is generally quite shadded, but one is certain to breat out into a sweat regardless of weather condition. The distance from the Katoomba YHA, in the Blue Mountains, to Jenolan Caves House is some 77KM - a "good" days ride.
