Penrith's whitewater rafting was the venue for the canoe / kayak slalom events during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

This course is open to the public now and you can go on a whitewater rafting tour that lasts for 90 minutes. They cater for self guided (do it yourself) and guided (let someone else steer) tours

You must be at least 12 years old to participate or 16 for the self guided tours

Available year round. Approximate cost $75 AUD

"Penrith :: Centre of the Universe!"

Penrith is an outer western suburb of Sydney. It is about 56 kms from the centre of Sydney by rail and is bordered on its western side by the Nepean River and the Blue Mountains.

"Great Home Base for Tourists"

Penrith offers a central location for those wishing to explore beyond the city.
There are also a number of sights worth visiting in the Nepean Valley:
The Olympic Rowing Centre is a lovely spot for a picnic and so is the neigbouring Whitewater Rafting Centre.
Tench Reserve, on the banks of the Nepean River on the Penrith side has excellent BBQ facilities. It is currently serviced by Westbus Route 794 from Penrith Station.

"From The Beginning To The Present"

I was born in Penrith, spent days running around its streets as a child and now I work and go to University there. What a boring life!

Penrith is the home of the NRL team the Penrith Panthers (whom I've supported since birth) and teh White Water Rafting centre used in the 2000 Olympic games.

I know every nook and cranny of it. My favourite shop in the world is here (I may have used this claim elsewhere too!) OK, my favourite bookshop in the world is here.

"Welcome to Penrith"

Penrith is on the edge of Sydney Metro area about an hour by train from Central and about 11/2 hours by car(on a good day). The best things about this place is the historical surroundings and the mountains. For a good meal try "Cottage Lane Caft Gourmet" except on Mondays and Tuesdays. The River area is great for picnics and relaxation.
