Most of the accommodation choices thoughout the Hunter Valley seem to be geared very much to couples or groups of adults & not a lot to families, particularly those with younger children.
I wanted something suitable for the 3 of us & narrowed my choices (within my budgetary requirements) & exploring these possibilites via their respective websites, to a choice between Pokolbin Chatueau Resort, Hunter Lodge Resort & the Hunter Resort. Don't know what prompted me to phone these guys first, but after hearing the offer I decided to book with them.
We had a Hunter Room which was close to the pool & a short walk to the Bluetongue Brewery & Bar & also San Martino Restaurant. It was very comfortable with a queen size bed & also a double sofa bed for the girls which was laid out, set up & ready to go when we arrived.
Unique Quality: It was an ideal location within the area of the Hunter I wanted to explore further & a different area to the one we breifly explored on our way north.
It has lots of different activities as per most resort style accommodation & of course a pool & a spa. Mind you, if you stay here & might be wanting to have a spa you need to let them know about 3 hours in advance so they can switch on the heating so it's warm enough for when you want it.
Horseriding is an activity you may be interested in with a 1 & 1/2 hour ride being $55 per person. We didn't really have time for that, but definitely next time.
Service at check-in & check-out was very friendly, helpful & efficient.
We'll definitely consider staying here again.
Check out their website.
Directions: About 20 minutes south of the New England Highway.
We stayed here and hot breakfast was included. It is in the heart of all the wineries and not overly expensive. We had a choice of 2 restaurants to walk to :o) I would recommend it!!
