Tooheys Draught.

Let’s make no secret of it. We both like a nice cold glass of beer. Being abroad is always a challenge to find a beer we like, which reflects our taste of having a beer. In Australia it was sometimes rather difficult. We found out that there are quite some local beers, only known in that particular area. But anyway, we did like the Tooheys.
Tooheys is an Australian brewery in the suburb of Lidcombe in Sydney and is a standard lager. The brewery dates back to 1869 and the brand Tooheys was first brewed in 1930. Tooheys can be found on tap at almost any bar in New South Wales, although it is not so common in other states and sometimes even has a poor reputation overthere. We saw that it was also available in cans and bottles as Tooheys Draught. Good taste and flavour!

One of the unspoilt gems of the Australian rainforest, this is one of the most accessible yet least visited areas I know of.
Stunningly beautiful waterfalls, magnificent forest, abundant wildlife; it's all there for the nature lover and only 40 minutes from Port Macquarie.
Apart from Ellenborough Falls, hardly anyone is aware of how many cascades they are driving past. I've unearthed scores over the last decade and continue to be amazed at the wealth of beauty that abounds in this area. If all that isn't enough then the vistas off Upper Landsdowne Road across to the Tasman Sea would be enough to satisfy the jaded viewer of landscapes.
There is limited accommodation in the town so staying at Port Macquarie isn't a bad option if you want to see the area. There is a cafe and small supermarket in the town when you're up there so you won't starve.
Tight lines

So I unpacked my gear and cast two lines out. It wasn't long before I was getting bites, albeit little ones. Still, it did keep me interested and then I noticed the cirrus clouds and decided to get my camera. A nice sunset was forbade.
Alternating between lines and camera I was kept busy for the next two hours as the earth spun round to eliminate the sun and my bait slowly ran out.
Once a pelican came by (pics 4 & 5) and fish splashed from time to time in the stilling waters while the hum of the ferry drifted across the limpid surface.
I caught lots of small bream, a huge toad (type of fish) and a couple of flathead, one of which I ate for dinner. How was it? Well, as any fisherman will attest, there's nothing quite like the taste of a recently caught fish. Deeelicious.
