Travel Tips for Port Macquarie
Best tourist location in New South Wales?
by Jerelis
Port Macquarie is a large and attractive holiday destination on the Mid North Coast. In our opinion it must be one of the best tourist destinations on the New South Wales coast. It has everything: a history which dates back to convict times, superb nature reserves in the area, some interesting historical buildings, lovely beaches with good surfing and excellent fishing opportunities, a fine museum, beautiful walking tracks around the headlands and beaches, lots of amusements for the kids; even a koala hospital.
The Werrikimbe experience 5
by iandsmith
After these falls you next come upon the Ferny Creek Cascades which lie about 100 metres below the trail and are extremely difficult to get close to and impossible to photograph properly from the track.
After this the trail winds down to a bridge then it's all uphill back to the carpark.
From there I commenced the drive out through Yarras but the road had been heavily eroded in parts and it certainly wasn't a drive for the faint hearted.
All that faded from memory when I reached the Forbes River Road intersection. This gorgeous river offers many photo opportunities for the exploring mind, as shown in the pics.
The first one is of a side stream that flows into the main river then the next three are of the river itself followed by the sign. I should add to pic 5, "If you don't know the way, then ask a local!".
That lighthouse again
by iandsmith
This is merely a flimsy excuse to put a shot of my motorhome in my pages, let's be honest. Still, it does give the perspective a lot better. As lighthouses go it's not all that big, the hill it rests on has been utilized for height and one has to be careful not to get too high for those mornings when the fog rolls in.
