Allman Hill - The Port's First Cemetery

Allman Hill is a great place to visit to obtain fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean, the Hastings River and the landscape to the hills in the distance. However its original use was for the first cemetery in Port Macquarie in 1821. The original gravestones are retained and a noticeboard gives an insight into the problems faced by the first settlers and the need to establist this cemetery.
Located on Stewart Street , Port Macquarie and a pleasant 15 minute walk from the town.
The Walk

Actually, it's a series of named walks that meander around the beachfront. If Port has done something other places should take note of it's walks.
They have gone to a great deal of trouble to encourage people to stroll around the beachfront and more power to them I say.
The optimum point to start is somewhere before the breakwall beside the CBD and then follow the painted rocks until you reach Town Beach where you turn right onto Charles Uptin Walk which will, in turn, take you to Doctor's Walk.
The Chinese Junk

If dolphin watching is your thing, heaven knows I've seen enough of them to last me three lifetimes, you might like to do it aboard the Chinese Junk that sits, when it's not cruising, moored with all the myriad of other pleasure boats on the waterfront.
