Camping, Backpacking or Luxury...your choice
The Sundowner is in an excellent location (caravan parks usually are, aren't they...that's why we love 'em! ) right near the beach. It has all the usual amenities, including a pool, kids club and bbq areas. You can book a powered site for AUD$31, use the backpacking dorm for AUD$25, or go all out and book a riverside spa cottage $130. We booked an ocean view cottage (sleeping 5) for $120, and while the ocean view was more of a glimpse, we were fairly satisfied.
The only probelm was with some of the front desk staff who can become quite melodramatic if they need to discuss a problem with you (my brother had a noise complaint made about him which tuirned out to be a case of mistaken cabins), and actually get very rude if you dare to disagree with them. Luckily though, you only need to deal with them on checking in and out.

First Class Caravan Park & Cabins
We did not stay in this caravan park or one of the very nice cabins over looking the Hastings River and a few minutes walk from the town shopping centre and Town Beach. This would be an ideal place to spend a few nights should you have a vehicle and were looking for good accommodation in the best position in town.
Prices for an overnight stay in a fully self contained cabin are most reasonable and much better than a motel.
