Seriously contemporary

If you're looking for a central, downtown hotel, 5 minutes from Darling Harbour, something a bit more stylish than the normal chain hotels at the cheaper end of the market, you can't go wrong with the Blacket. Recently renovated, hip and style are two adjectives that spring to mind. Clean lines, ebony woods and cream fabrics, minimalist flower designs greet you at the small but functional reception area. 7 floors of rooms (but only 42 in total) in this converted 19th century bank (?). The rooms are some of the biggest I've been in - minimalist but tasteful decor, mini-apartment style (sink, microwave etc - stainless steel Fischel & Pyke fridge - that's how seriously contemp it is!) and a fantastic bathroom with huge walk-in showers. And through wotif.com, just A$120 per night, including breakfast. Its a real bargain for downtown Sydney . Attached is the highly-thought of Minc Bar & Restaurant.

Unique Quality: CERTAINLY A GOOD CHOICE FOR A CITY HOTEL - ESPECIALLY WHEN GOOD DEALS CAN BE FOUND.

  • Opinion of Price: less expensive than average
