A walk through Hyde Park after sunset is one activity. the Path from the War Memorial to Phillip Street (South to North) is lined on both sides with gigantic Moreton Bay Fig Trees, the branches of the trees are lit with thousands of miniature white lights, lovely sight. The Botanical Gardens at the foot of Hyde Park & the Domain, is alive in the Spring and Summer of the year with rare and exotic flowers, trees and plants, with a fine restaurant set right in the centre.This is a Killer! I'm a 'SYDNEYSIDER!! !' I was born in the suburb of Summer Hill, less than 30 minutes travel west of Sydneytown. When I was a Lad (:-))) the City of Sydney was composed of buildings built with native sandstone carved from the cliffs around Sydney, and as the city is oriented north & south, with the sun rising in the east and setting in the west, the air would be filled with wave upon wave of shimmering light of Golden tones, all reflections from the sandstone buildings, hence sydney was always known as and called 'The Shimmering City' Now it looks like ?????What do I miss? I miss SYDNEY, which to us LOCALS was and still is called 'The Big Smoke' If you want to know why this name, then go - then you'll know.
