Disgusting Place

Stayed for 5 nights in a family room. Room was disgusting, walls had brown stuff sprayed that hadn't been cleaned off, chewing gum on the bunk bed post, carpets hadn't been vacuumed, it was covered in hair (had to request that it was vacuumed), very bad odour in room. Elevators had chewing gum on the walls, spit on the walls, sticky floors. Place was extremely noisy, drunken people coming and going, running in the hallways, blocking the lifts. Some of the staff were very rude and unhelpful, very pushy upon checkout. Checkout time is 10am, I was packing up the room to checkout at 9am and was approached by a cleaner who wanted to help me get my stuff out so she could get in and supposedly clean the room. She wasn't very impressed when I told her that I didn't have to check out until 10am. Never ever again will I stay at any formule 1. I understand that this is cheaper accommodation than other places, but when you are charged $169 a night, you expect it to be at least clean. I do not recommend this place to anyone, I wouldn't even let my dogs stay there.

VERY CHEAP AND CLEAN ACCOMODATION - W/Carparking

by SierraSydney about Motel Formule 1

This is a convenient, clean, small and most importantly cheap place to stay at with easy and free car parking facilities right at the door step. (maybe parking is not available at all other locations) Each room has a tv and bed linen.

Self Serve Breakfast is available up until an early time, but McDonalds was right next door anyway.

Unfortunately they were so efficient that the cleaner woke us up in the morning wanting to clean the room - so you might have to be an early riser :)

The shower and toilet is probably the most efficient use of space you will ever see but if youre a traveller and youre busy seeing the sights - you dont have time to want a big bathroom :) In Sydney, the cheapest i have seen are the Formula 1 Hotels which are $69 per room, per night and can sleep up to four people.

There is one in Strathfield which is 20 minutes from the city and there is one in Kings Cross, $79/nite which is very close to the heart of the city and Kings Cross train station. "Motel Formule 1 Kings Cross (02) 9326 0300
" If you can get 4 people, thats only $20 a night!

Take a look at their site:

http://www.formule1.com.au/

There is one opening at the airport in 2005. "Motel Formule 1 Sydney Airport , OPENING JANUARY 2005"

They are very clean and have been built within the last 5-10 years.

Can't you smell 'The Rocks' is cooking!?

One of the oldest part of Sydney, The Rocks is the earliest settlement of Sydney and Australia. Nestled at the foot of the beautifully designed Harbour Bridge, it has transformed into a vibrant pocket of cafes, restaurants and interesting tourist shops and stalls.

Full of fun things to see and to do, Darling Harbour is a great place to spend a day visiting attractions that cater all ages and tastes. (You need more than a day to make the most of it.) Take a stroll, go shopping, indulge your interest in history, movies, wildlife and more. And in the evening, sample the many great dining opportunities that abound in this area. You can find here the Sydney Aquarium (see further), Cockle Bay Wharf (Some of the city's most highly awarded restaurants are to be found in this stylish setting.),
Panasonic IMAX, Chinese Garden of Friendship (see further), Sydney's Paddy's Markets and Market City (Souvenirs, gifts and 200 special stores, plus Australia's largest yum cha.),
Powerhouse Museum, Harbour Side, Australian Maritime Museum, Star City/Buran and Water Screens (Evening shows of light, sound, lasers and water.). Personal I didn't visit all of it, but I want you to give an impression of things to see and to do at the Darling Harbour. See for more pics and info in the Darling Harbour travelogue please.
