Hotel Formule 1 Sydney Airport
by CandS about Hotel Formule 1 Sydney Airport
We stayed in this hotel the night before we started our honeymoon overseas (we don't count this place as part of the honeymoon!). It is probably somewhere I won't ever stay again...the room was very squashy, it was VERY noisy all night long, the staff weren't really interested in having us there, there were STACKS of kids all over the place etc. Overall it wasn't really a very nice place to stay...I'd go elsewhere next time.
inexpensive hotel near the airport
by kooka3 about Formule 1, Sydney Airport
This is a fairly basic hotel, but does the job and the price is right. It costs Aus$79 a night, and is a 7 minute walk from the domestic terminal. 4 people can fit into a room - usually in a queen sized bed and a bunk bed. The rooms are small but not cramped, and have a tv, alarm clock, and small desk in each one.
The people were very helpful, and the hotel was clean and well secured (good locks, security cameras, etc). This is a pretty basic hotel, so no pool, spa, workout facility, etc, but it is very convenient to the airport. They have a fridge for everyone's use in the dining area as well as a microwave. They do have vending machines, including one that has good frozen meals like Thai green curry chicken or lasagna. They also have a couple internet terminals for Aus$2 for 20 minutes, which is a decent price for Sydney.
They also sell a good breakfast - cereals, toast, jam, coffee, tea, juice, etc - for Aus$6.
You can get a shuttle to the airport for Aus$4.50 - worth it if you are going to the International terminal, but unless you have a heap of bags, walking to the domestic terminal will take you less than 10 minutes.

An inexpensive airport hotel
by Cal_Al
Everyone has been very helpful as I plan my trip to Australia! I have another question. I have a final night in Sydney at the end of my trip and I am looking for relatively inexpensive lodgings for one night. I fly in on a Saturday night at the end of three busy weeks, and then fly out on Sunday morning so I really am just looking for a place to rest my head, preferably near to the airport. I've already blown my budget at this point so I am also looking for something cheaper (under $100 for two people). Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

The Hotel Formule 1 in Ross Smith Avenue is the cheapest hotel close to the airport. I think I paid $14.oo to get to International from there so you may want to add this cost to other dearer hotels.
Also not much in the way of food around this hotel.
