has anyone stayed at the lamrock lodge hostel in bondi reviews are not great but its all thats available over new years thanks guys

I just had a look at their website www.lamrocklodge.com.au and it looks pretty clean. You have to look at how much time are you planning on spending in your room or the hostel. As I said in a previous post. You arent going to be able to get much else around that time of the year, for that price

Ok after you've visited the Opera House and walked over the Harbour Bridge and shopped at the Queen Victoria Building and visited Bondi Beach to see all the topless sunbaking, listen to me and I'll tell you where to go ! Truly Sydney is wonderful and if you are travelling from the U.S. the dollar is very favourable so you'll think everything is very cheap here. Money well spent if you can handle the 15 - 20 hour flight to get here in the first place ! Let me tell you the jewel in the crown is Coogee Beach !

Go to Balmoral Beach (in suburb of Mosman), just a 20min bus trip from the city centre. Go there on a sunny afternoon/evening. There is the best fish and chip shop in Sydney. Sit by the beach watching the sun go down... not a bad way to spend a Summer evening... Having a weekend breakfast/brunch at a Bondi Beach cafe...

A footprint of a Georgian house that once stood in Martin Place is marked out by black granite paving tiles and metal grilles, through which a light mist rises every ten minutes, evoking the ghostly spaces once occupied by previous residents. The three bronze bowls, reflection pools and fountains represent the Georgian washrooms which were placed at the back of the house.

If a student of culture you might be able to locate the significance of the re visit 38 years later....like the trips down memory lane as a cultural thing. But then, go to the zoo and check out the view too so that you will have a starting point for your next/later trips.

Kayaking/Canoeing

Australia, and Sydney in particular is graced with wonderful weather most of the year. Many people are water sports fanatics and can be found on any given day enjoying the beautiful weather on the bay.

Kayaking/Canoeing seems to be a very popular sport. On the day we were traveling to Watsons Bay by Ferry, we encountered quite a few people enjoying the beautiful day on a kayak/canoe.

What a great way to enjoy the waters and get some exercise as well.
