Functional budget
Apartment hotel at the 'bottom' end of Macleay Street - ie away from King's Cross station. Functional without any glamour - rooms are a decent size, some offering great views over Elizabeth Bay and Sydney Harbour, others overlooking the city (on the higher floors). 24 hour reception, small pool out the back with a BBQ area. Located directly opposite Woolworths, so perfect for the self-catering option (closes at midnight). Quite a schlepp from King's Cross, but close to pathways that lead you down to Elizabeth Bay and Woolloomooloo Bay, and also a few excellent cafes in the vicinity ('Yellow', with its stunning breakfasts and pastries a little further down the hill on the other side of the road).
Unique Quality: Nothing particularly unique about this place- one of many functional, unexciting budget apartment hotels that abound in Sydney. Good value for money without being memorable. You could certainly do a lot worse!
