The Marque is to be found on the junction of Pitt and George Sts opposite Central Station. Great location for the station, Chinatown and UTS, a little out of the way for the CBD and more famed tourist spots.
I was a little suprised by The Marque - in Melbourne, the hotel is a funky boutique hotel, contemporary in style as well as approach. This is not the case with its Sydney sister hotel. Noted that it is a recent takeover from a rather uninspiring chain and therefore has plans to radically overhaul style etc. But in the interim, the hotel is OK - popular with groups, good size rooms for the price range, unusual in that all the rooms (and corridors) have exposed brick, windows that open. Main issue is that it really is in need of an overhaul - rooms are functional without inspiration, foyer need to be addressed (stale beer smells from the bar assault your nostrils on first entrance). I doubt if I would have been that 'concerned' if it was not for the fact that it is a Marque hotel and therefore expect a lot more.
Appreciated the roof-top pool! Not the biggest pool you will ever see but great skyline view.
NOT BAD BUT WOULD NOT RETURN UNTIL REFURB.
