More about Meriton Pitt Street Sydney

Great value, modern and spacious

by A TripAdvisor Member

If you want stunning views, loads of space, clean and modern and in a great location for shopping and to the harbour then this apartment is great. We had the two bedroom apartment and lived on our balcony drinking fantastic expresso and croissants delivered to the door by the well known local cafe Macciato's. True the lifts are a little slow but this is a small price to pay for such good value accommodation. Excellent value for money when you compare CBD hotel rates where rooms are usually very small and there is no space to 'relax'. I will be staying there again soon!

Excellent value by Sydney standards

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed here when we were first relocating to Sydney. Service was excellent, the rate we got when we phoned up was better than offered on the web so for $173/night we stayed for 7 nights in a one bed. Only wish we had booked in for longer as it was fully booked for the following week so we had to move to the Medina. They have a 48hr cancellation fee although I think Sat night may be non refundable.

The bed was huge, which didn't leave space for anything else in the bedroom but there was plenty of space in the living/kitchen room. Internet wasn't free as someone has mentioned but $15 for a day, only annoying thing was that a day isn't 24hrs, it is until 10am next morning which is pretty stupid.

Woolworths is close by for food shopping and all the shops of the CBD area are a 5 min walk away.

Great Value

by TripAdvisor Member AraleMelbourne

We stayed in one of the 2 bedrooms apartments in March 2005 and in one of the 1 bedroom apartments in June 2005. Both were clean and modern which made our stay very enjoyable. Excellent location. The gym and pool were great too. The only downside is the lifts can be horrifying during the busy times. I had to wait 30 mins for a ride up once.

Group Fun Down Under

by TripAdvisor Member MrJ

I cannot begin to tell you how difficult it was to find a cottage or apartment or something that could accommodate a group of 4 adults with 2 separate rooms and bathrooms. I must have checked about 50+ different options more than 6 mths prior to arrival but hit so many dead ends I nearly gave up.

Ok - we ARE talking about me finding somewhere over the New Years Eve period but I figured it would be easier.

If you are in the same boat - look no further than Meriton Rialto.

Its not a pretty looking building but after a few days you realise its one of the tallest buildings in Sydney and amazingly placed about a 15min walk from Circular Quay and 5 mins from the main shopping areas of George Street etc. Our apartment with its 4 balconies even had 2 of them looking towards the Harbour Bridge! I think there are about 40+ floors and we were half way up with amazing views.

The principal is these are serviced apartments with a hotel style lobby and then a mixture of residential, commercial and then the apartments they let out.

The 2 bed apt we had was stunning. Very modern, beautifully kitted out with large kitchen and living room (and a further sofa bed!). One bedroom had an amazing balcony view with a shower room and the other had an ensuite bathroom/shower to make up for the lack of view! Air con was fab. Decor and neutral colourings and daily cleaner all fab.

There IS no other way to stay in Sydney. 100% recommend this to every and anyone!

To top it all there is a pool/sauna/internet room/valet parking etc etc. Who needs Hilton and stuffy Shangri-La? Seriously folks - stay here!

Good location

Stayed here on new years eve 2005/2006 for the one night with friends . Good location on Pitt street which gives good access to all parts of the CBD and harbour. We had a 3 bedroomed apartment that was spotless and well equiped with a huge balcony, the only problem being that they dont tell you that the balconies are locked Friday and Saturday nights for north facing rooms , bit of a bummer for new yaer , luckily they forgot to lock one of them but they are not the most secure and can be opened. Would recommed a high floor due to stunning views accross the city , you can see the harbour bridge, Darling harbour and the Sydney Tower. Only downside was that you have to vacate the room by 10am. Other than that nice place to stay.

Good location - poor lifts

by TripAdvisor Member CENTREPOINT

Good location. Staff friendly & helpful. One bedroom apartment of adequate size. Sporadic cleaning left a lot to be desired. Phone calls from apartment VERY expensive. Local phone area not defined in apartment information. Check before incurring large call charges. Lifts exceptionally poor, especially between 08.00 and 10.00 during check out. We had to wait 25 minutes before a lift even stopped at our floor.

Great location, great deal.

I stayed at the Meriton at the beginning of February and I thought it was an excellent apartment with everything required for a good stay in Sydney. The location near Town Hall station is ideal to see the sights of Sydney. We got a bargain price too especially compared with other hotels which do not have the same facilities in the rooms. Something to note is that they will make a charge of $100 if the dishes are not washed or put in the dishwasher or the rubbish is not taken out. This is probably fair enough and designed to stop people trashing rooms but it is not that obvious and I wouldn't have known if I had not read the form I signed at check-in very carefully. Other reviews have mentioned the lifts being slow but they weren't too bad for us and it certainly isn't a reason to not stay here.

Fantastic position -

by TripAdvisor Member Debrob

Stayed two nights on 7th and 8th March. Took the 'mystery room' for only AUD$149 and got a two bedroom apartment with balcony and views of harbour and darling harbour!! Mentioned when booking that it was our 25th Wedding Anniversary and travelling from Adelaide which I think helped with the upgrade. The staff were friendly and had no problems at all with lifts as previously mentioned in reviews. Great position in Pitt st just down from shopping Mall and close to Town Hall station which was great when taking the train direct from Airport to city. Easy walk to Darling Harbour and longer walk down to Circular Quay but not difficult. Really enjoyed the stay. Only criticism is that the A/C turns off every four hours which is terrible on a warm night and means having to get up at 2.00am to switch back on!!! Apart from this would highly recommend these apartments, Intend returning with three girlfriends for a shopping weekend and booking two bedroom apartment with four single beds!!

Great Place to Stay

by TripAdvisor Member cathieski

This place was wonderful and VERY reasonable($180 Au) for a roomy place in Sydney. We stayed 3 nights in a one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and family room. The rooms are spacious, very clean and modern. It is so well insulated, that you don't hear any street noise or sounds from the rooms around you. I had read in other reviews about the long wait for elevators but we did not experience this. Our friends stayed in a 2 bedroom which was as even nicer. The 2 bedrooms are on higher floors and have great views. I would definately stay there again.

Girls Weekend Away

by TripAdvisor Member kiwitouristAuckland

After a lot of research we chose the Rialto for our girls weekend away (6 of us). It had a 3 bedroom apartment with 2 single beds in each - so all the girls could have their own bed and space - and we had two bathrooms to share.

The lounge and living areas were very spacious and nice and modern. It had excellent kitchen facilities - not that we used them much - and the views were gorgeous. We had requested an apartment up high after reading other reviews where people had ended up looking at a wall of the next-door building.

Overall, I couldn't recommend it more highly. The only drawback was that the lifts often took a while to arrive - sometimes that was a hassle.

We stayed 4 nights and were very comfortable. It is very centrally located - which was excellent for shopping excursions and had excellent facilities

Things to notice for hostel safety

by asas2007

I wanna know the safety level of Sydney hostel.
Is it possible that national discrimination and even bullying happen in shared dorm room?
Is it highly possible that things might be stolen?

And do the people usually sleep late and scream and play loudly in a shared room?

Re: Things to notice for hostel safety

There is a website called bug hostel reviews, have a look as previous guests write their opinion. There is literally every nationality under the sun in Sydney, you would be very unlucky to encounter any problems. If you are very nervous about these things a single room might be better or even a cheaper Hotel.
I know a lot of Hostels pride themselves on being "party hostels" and there is a lot of noise at night, personally I would choose an inexpensive Hotel as you sound as though you want to sleep at night!

I stayed at a uni lodge in sydney last november, with my two sons.We were there just for a night on a saturday and it was too noisy for us to sleep.all through the night the noise was so high.and we needed to take an early morning flight the next day and when we came to take a taxi at about 4.30 a.m. in the morning the youngsters downstairs at the lobby and on the road were still in 'party mood',but none of them misbehaved with us.So long as you are clear about what you want I dont think anyone would mess with you.
Hope you have a pleasant stay.
all the best.
