More about Meriton World Tower Apartment

Fantastic ... highly recommended

by TripAdvisor Member ilovethecolourpink

My new husband and I spent 9 nights in the Meriton World Tower Serviced Apartments in July 2006 as part of our honeymoon. I have nothing but praise for this acommodation: clean spacious rooms, fantastic views (35th floor), wonderful service and superb location. I would highly recommend this accommodation to all travellers.

The best value apartment in Sydney

by TripAdvisor Member Lizard62

We needed an apartment in Sydney with WOW views that would accomodate 5 women on our annual 'girls weekend' away from our families. We found Meriton World Tower on the net, and after reading other TripAdvisor comments, booked and and got a fantasitc 3-night deal on a 3-bedroom apartment on the 69th floor, complete with two bathrooms, beautifully furnished living and dining area, Miele kitchen, laundry and breathtaking views over East and South Sydney. We spent hours just staring at the amazing view! The apartment looked like a showroom for an expensive apartment development. Each room had two single beds, there were ample towels, champagne glasses and ice (just what we needed!!!) The room was serviced daily, with beds made up and fresh towels supplied. The swimming pool, spa, sauna and gym was used by all of us regularly, and the reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Lifts didn't take too long, but that may be because we didn't use them before 10am each day. Great location...a few minutes walk from St James Station, and from the bus stops for Circular Quay and Bondi. Located in the centre of Chinatown, so tons of great sushi restaurants and Korean BBQs right outside your door. A big mall under the building houses a Coles supermarket, Priceline and newsagents...handy for picking up those nibbles before dinner. The hotel also offers a $10 shuttle bus to the airport - great value all round.

Terrific Towers

by TripAdvisor Member Major_Delays

We were travelling with a friend and looking for an alternative to paying for 2 hotel rooms and the Meriton World Towers was everything we could have hoped for. A 2 bed apartment in the centre of Sydney for under £100 per night. Checking in could have been better, but they were having a busy day and our room wasn't available until 2:30pm (we arrived at 8 am and had to wander around the city without the luxury of a shower after 24 hours on the plane (still as qantas lost our luggage it didn't make that much of a difference)).

The room itself was on the 72nd floor and the view was spectacular. The apartment was enormous and the fitting out was to a very high standard. We noticed before booking that people seemed annoyed by the lifts, we found that if you are a little patient they are fine.

The location is just yards from the mono-rail station which gets you around the local area (Darling harbour, city centre, etc.) and the train station is 1/2 mile. All in all this was a fantastic choice and we would recommend it as a great alternative option to regular hotels. Splash out the extra go for a 2 bed apartment they are on the higher floors and give better views.

Oh So Close to Perfect

Having read the reviews on this site, we decided that the location and potentially incredible views were worth the downsides some reviewers had mentioned.

And pretty much most reviewers hit the nail on the head:
* The views are incredible! We stayed on the 75th floor (two from the top) and had sensational views from the airport right around to Darling Harbour.
* The room sizes are very very generous. Too often apartments like this have very small living spaces, but the lounge/dining room in our room was massive and in many ways made the room. The bathrooms were also very well appointed, even if the showers are a little on the small side. The main bathroom (there's one ensuite and one other full bathroom in a 3-bedroom apartment) also has a spa-bath.
* It is possible to have to wait up to around ten minutes for an elevator, however we found this to only happen during the check-out times of 9.30am-10.30am. So if you can avoid the lifts during this time you should be fine.
* The swimming pool / gym / spa were excellent, again with truly brilliant views.

Now, for the only real downside to the hotel as we found it... the thin walls. On arrival in the room we noticed a very prominent sign warning that making loud noise would risk eviction! After one night we realised why... the walls are paper thin and lying in bed we could hear talking in the adjoining apartment. This is not to mention the sound of bass at all hours of the day. Three complaints to reception (two in one night) seemed to fix the problem, and we probably weren't helped by staying there during school holidays and on a long weekend (stag parties, hen's nights etc).

So, all in all, the World Tower has possibly the best views in Sydney and is very good value for money. I would give it a solid four star rating (out of five), and if you can avoid the lifts during check-out time, and avoid school holidays I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

What a View!!!

by TripAdvisor Member Scorpio711

This has got to be the best accommodation in Sydney, if you're after value for money. We stayed at a 3 bedroom corner suite on the 75th floor and the views were just FANTASTIC! My husband's parents were with us and they just can't get over the views, they would have just been happy to stay in the room for the entire 6 days we were there! All 3 bedrooms have great views of the city and the ocean, the living areas are larger than your average home and the kitchen is very modern and had everything we needed. The main bedroom has a huge bathroom w/ spa and the extra TV was definitely appreciated. I've read the other reviews about problems with the elevators but the longest we've ever waited for one from the 75th floor was 45 seconds and this was during checkout time! It's usually a lot shorter than that! We must have been very lucky! The location was also a bonus- central to everything. Just 5 minutes walk to Darling Harbour and 15minutes walk to Circular Quay. Monorail station just next door, Coles supermarket, cafes, restaurants and shopping all within the block! Chinatown and Paddy's Market just a few minutes walk and George St. is just about 20 meters from Hotel entrance if you want to catch a bus to go wherever!
I booked our accommodation directly with Meriton through their 1-800 number and they sure looked after us, it was money well spent! WE'LL BE BACK!

Top view!

by TripAdvisor Member Markus32

Arrived tired to find that we were on the very top floor (77)....after fathoming the lift we found a huge apartment with amazing views over Darling Harbour. Couldnt draw the curtains each night as it seemed such a shame to waste the view.

Location is pretty central, only 5 mins from the nearest tube and from Darling Harbour. Would highly recommend staying here + its cheaper than most hotels!

Central location

by TripAdvisor Member Belugas

Great location for visitors to Sydney and spectacular view. Restaurants close by (Oxford Street, George Street, Chinatown all wihin walking distance). We also managed to walk to the Sydney Cricket Ground in 35 mins.

There is a well-stocked Coles Supermarket in World Square, making it very convenient for essentials. There are also other shops in the complex eg. Rebel sport, SONY for instant printing of digital photos!

Closest train station is Town Hall.

One negative are the very, very slow lifts...especially when your apartment is up past the 70th floor!

Very impressed

by TripAdvisor Member fromthelake

I made the booking from NZ in April with info obtained from tripadvisor and brochures.

When we arrived because it was only mid morning our bags were put in a security lock-up due to our room not being ready.
However later in the day when we did return to the Apartments any delay of checking-in was quickly dispelled when we saw our fabulous 2 bedroom apartment on the 70th floor.
It was clean, spacious, uncluttered with modern decorating and views Wow!

I had read reviews about the lifts not working or slow. This however did not happen to us even though we were there for four days and used this resourse at numerous times.
We liked the security requirements that were in place for the lift and foyer and the strict policy of no parties and that noise complaints would be handled swiftly.
The staff we mainly dealt with were the check-in staff and they were more than helpful so I thank Shayne and his collegues for their patience of our ongoing enquiries.

The mono-rail quickly became our best friend and is right next door along with coffee and a wide range of food outlets. For train travel and passes again a five minute walk.
We also used the parking area on one occasion which was easy as and cheap.
The $10 shuttle bus back to the airport which I had heard about on the tripadvisor was great.

Spacious, clean, busy

by A TripAdvisor Member

I booked a 2bedroom apartment for 4 adults using Meriton central reservations after reading reviews on here. I was looking forward to a high floor with a great view unfortunately we were allocated level 19 (apartments start on level 18) where the view was average - mostly of city blocks, nothing like some of the views level 50 and above would get.

The apartment was modern, nicely furnished and spacious enough - bathrooms and kitchen were clean.

The lobby / reception area was busy any time of the day or night - mainly with asian students. They weren't noisy or annoying at all - there was just a lot of them. I suspect most of the building is long-term residential with only a small portion controlled by Meriton for serviced apartments.

Overall I was happy with the place - although a little disappointed with the view. Next time I would pay extra for the 'high-rise' part of the building.

Top Class

Looking for a hotel in Sydney

by Lillly

I'm looking for a nice, clean hotel in Sydney, from Feb. 16 to 23rd. My price range is up to 600 EUR for 7 nights. Does anyone have any suggestions or any helpfull experience?

Re: Looking for a hotel in Sydney

by Mikebb

Hi You will get a 3 star plus hotel for this price. You have to decide what location, City Centre, Old Sydney Rocks district, Darling Harbour etc etc . 600 Euro is about Au $ 1000, approx $160 night, if lucky you might crack a 4 star.

What I suggest is for you to work out what you want to do with your week, then you might decide to stay outside the city centre, say Darlinghurst, Kings Cross, Double Bay, Manly .

Middle of Feb should be a good time for hotel rates, school holidays are finished. There are offers of Secret Hotels where you can get a 4star or higher hotel for approx $99, these are internet offers.

Try these web pages

good luck,

wotif has never let us down

we are planning to use it for our hotel in rome in november

Re: Looking for a hotel in Sydney

Me too - I always use wotif and $160 a night is more than ample. With 7 nights you can sometimes also get even better deals (I rarely pay more than $150 a night and most times secured 4 star accommodation).
