Hostel near Central Station

This is an old worlde pub that has reconfigured as a hostel. I have stayed here before because it is so handy to Central Station and so I stayed here again.
It has lifted its game a bit and now there are notices around - Strictly No Alcohol.
Mind you - I got back one night and one of my dorm mates was passed out dead drunk on her bunk and there was a vino party going on in the dining room. Hostel life. Have to love it.
They dish out breakfast in the morning - cereal, bread etc - and there is free tea and coffee all day.
The kitchen and dining room are reasonable and plenty of people were cooking meals.
It is very noisy because of its central situation.
I like the little smoking area off the kitchen.
You have to rent a towel ($1) and I actually did not shower while I was there because there was nowhere to put your stuff while you showered and no privacy at all.
Downstairs is the Oriental Bar which seemed your average run of the mill Sydney pub. Cheap food, poker machines.
However it was all pretty clean. No complaints there.
The website welcomes mature people and it wasn't just young ones.

A pretty good hostel in Chinatown district

This place doubles as a hostel and hotel.
NOTE IF YOU BOOK ONLINE YOU SAVE MONEY.

I stayed here two nights in January 2007.
It was by no means the greatest hostel i've stayed in, it was merely average.

I paid $23 a night for a 4 bed dorm which was slightly below the average. (booked online)

The location is great..right in the mist of Chinatown in Sydney, so that means great places to eat, and a pretty cheap neighbourhood for anything you could want.

Walking from the hostel to Harbour Bridge should take around 10-15mins (moderately paced), and with Sydney being such an easy city to walk around, it's difficult to find your lost.

Ok, the hostel itself is located to the right of a bar, opposite Global Gossip and just minutes away from the city train station. It's remarkably quiet considering it's location.
The rooms are spacious, and very clean.

Cons; hostel bathrooms, discounted online rate (hinders staying a few extra nights)
Pros: Location, Cheap neighbourhood, near main train station, near Global Gossip, pleasant walk to Harbour Bridge, Opera House.

Unique Quality: Location...China Town!
and cheapest hostel nearest Train Station.
